Flatscreen blues

I nearly always play in VR unless I'm in the SRV. But yesterday I was expecting a parcel delivery so opted to play flatscreen to maintain maximal situational awareness of my real world surroundings.

I couldn't do it. Oh, I could still fly my spaceship, but felt so detached from events that I made stupid mistakes - not noticing a ship scan and so failing to deploy a heat sink left me with a dissatisfied passenger that cost me ten million credits. Failing to check for incoming traffic before leaving the mailslot in my Beluga was also expensive.

Do other VR players get the same sense of disconnection if they find themselves playing for whatever reason on a flatscreen?

Absolutely. It probably just takes getting used to again. But I'm not sure I want to get used to it.

That happens to the majority of us. Since my Rift arrived more than 2 years ago, i haven´t touched a single monitor game. Not once.
I totally lost interest in playing on a flat screen (and i played on a 55" wide screen). My VR rig now has a 15" screen. It doesn´t need more to launch Windows and a game.

I really can´t wait for the next generation of VR headsets, when the resolution and field of view is increased and we get nice things like eye tracking.

Have you lost interest in doing anything else on a flat screen.

I thought I'd give 4K a try with a refurbished 43" monitor. Of course it arrived dead, so I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I'm tired of lowres VR.

i just dont play outside of vr. i find the game dull as dishwater.

in vr tho................. completely different game because i am INSIDE my spaceship.... i can forgive a lot of issues for that 1 reason :)

there are plenty of times i cant use my VR hmd for different reasons. i play different games then

some games i still like on a screen... but not anything based in a cockpit of any type.
