Newcomer / Intro Flawed focus crystals

I know this has come up before - I've been reading up - but it seem that the best location for such a material is Dav's Hope. Is that still the case? The threads I've seen here are now locked and I'm struggling to find info on eddb.

I spent a couple of hours chasing wakes last night but that is apparently not the way to do it :D

The description in game says they are common. Probabky incorrect from what I am reading.

I can see people saying they've found them in RESs but I don't feel ready for one of those yet.

just kill wanted ships around nav beacons or RES Zones...

i almost stumble every time actoss flawed crystals and all sorts of manufactured materials.

They are one of the most commonly dropped items; as said above res sites or nav beacons are the most straight forward places to farm them.

Res sites are easy places to farm, do not be worried about giving them a go, just don't carry any loot in your hold to avoid drawing aggro from the npc pirates. Low - High res have system security attacking wanted targets, just make sure to do damage to them and you will gain the bounty and access to loot. It is useful to turn off "report crimes against me", otherwise you will end up with nothing but system security ships in the res site.

So that’s why I end up in a res site with just me and security ships so often - another tip learned, thanks

So it's a RES site or nothing? Looks like I'll need to swat up on that then :(. Really didn't fancy combat; I'm a lover, not a fighter. Etc.

Main Dav's Hope info thread is not locked - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ED-List-of-Materials-at-DAV-S-Hope(Pictorial)

You can fill up with loads of materials (up to grade 4 - no very rare) and of course you can trade materials to glean your desired items.

I don't think the site map there has been updated to reflect the new items that spawn, including Flawed Focus Crystals.

So - go there, find the actual Dav's Hope, scan all the comms uplinks and in future Dav's Hope will appear in your Nav Panel - it won't appear on a surface map nor can you bookmark it but bookmarking the planet will serve.

EDIT: There are other similar locations, info in the 1st post of the above thread, but for me Dav's is my only Hope. (sorry)

Go in a cheap ship (in case something happens), drop into some normal RES (not Hazardous) and just observe. Don't pick fights, just follow the cops. You can go in a system where you're friendly with a ruling faction so the cops will be green on the radar and easily distinguishible. Wait for them to start attacking the pirates and just hit the pirate ship a couple times shortly before it dies. You'll be credited the bounty and you can pick up loot. FFCs ar not at all rare. you should be good to go in relatively short time and you could even find other interesting stuff.

As mentioned, they're plentiful in RES sites. If combat isn't your thing, Dav's is a good place also (recently went there for the first time myself, pain to find, but so much loot!), you'll get other stuff there as well, rare stuff.

Another vote for Dav's Hope....I've been there a lot the past few days to grind for Chemical Processors and flawed focus crystals came up often for me in the 'Dav's Hope 500' circuit that I run there :) Keep reloading it after a circuit until you get what you need.

With Material Traders, just go to a HIRES and pick up anything you like then trade it for the Flawed Crystals - which are pretty common rated so you’ll get a decent “exchange rate” against most things.

Hope you're remembering to scan the data point each time, I'd done so many circuits and visits there before it dawned on me that I could scan it again...and again.

You don't actually need to do the combat. You can pick up stuff that others have killed. When I am in a RES I never stop combat to pick up loot. Make sure that your hold is empty and only pick up materials. Then the NCP pirates leave you alone.
