General Fleet Carrier Interiors

Hello Frontier Team,

Firstly, thank you so much for work on our beloved Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, we can finally walk now :D
You have been adding interiors in the game(Loving it) to the Stations and Megaships however they are lobbys of these stations/ships and that's understandable because why should a regular pilot have access to a station/megaship's other areas?!(Although they can be added later for onfoot gameplay of generation ships or any other which were attacked or something but that's maybe for laatteerr)
However, we do click on Buy Fleet Carrier option when buying a fleet carrier. I understand a Cmdr would have some sort of service contract with the Brewer Corporation for the upkeep but... we own the thing ya know!? That means there should be no or very little areas that are off limits for a Cmdr. Ideally... Fleet Carrier interiors should not be restricted to a lobby only but a Cmdr should be able to go to other places like the engine rooms, the Tritium tanks, Cmdr's room, rooms for the Crew, the bridge(ofc),a big open view on top or front made of glass ot it feels like you're standing in stars, a place you can manage ship outfitting while on foot, etc... bascially almost all the the things that you can see in the Fleet Carrier Administration/Managment view can(maybe) have a console or a small area or something of it's own to access while on foot and that should make it more immersive I guess...
Maybe later if you do something similar to Megaships then it could add gamplay options for missions like bringing a megaship back online or going inside and fighting aggressive Pirates/Thargoids onfoot and then brining the megaship back online.
Above can also be done for decommisioned FC where Bewer Corp contracts you to clean up the FC from Pirates/Thargoids so the can perform their decommisioning procedure(maybe you'll have to add some decommisioned FC or use the ones that get decomissioned?) and as a bonus if a Cmdr owning an FC helps Brewer Corp with this then they give that Cmdr 2% discount on weekly upkeep?(Only if you own an FC ofc)
This is just a suggestion/request to make FC interiors more than lobbies with potential changes that could be made.
(Hoping Commuity Managers to pass message/request/suggestion to the relevant teams and thank you CMs for being so patient with us)
Sorry for the grammar mistakes and thank you once again for managing such an awesome game. I love Elite and will always love Elite, thanks again! <3

Regards,
Arsum

The one screenshot we have seen of FC interior shows an area not seen in any of the lobbies, so we know they aren't just going to be lobbies, but what exactly we will probably have to wait for FDEV to make the big reveal.

Greetings,

OK, lots of threads about what the fleet carrier interiors should look like since Frontier announced them. You are not the first or will be the last.

Some fans have posted this picture below as an upcoming fleet carrier view of a command/bridge preview. I can't confirm it or want to versus I'm busy playing the game. Was it on a live stream? Looks more like an ATC (Air Traffic Control center) to watch ships land and take off. Maybe in NOV 3307 we should go for STC (Space Traffic Control center).

Assuming it is even close to any Frontier early preview all those structure grids are going to get old fast. Meanwhile landing any of your ships on a FC pad then using the excellent camera systems in Odyssey and Horizons makes for much better views and videos.

BUT if this carrier STC view has a fully operational 3D scanner showing both NPCs and live players landing on your fleet carrier? Now we have something useful! It would work in both Odyssey and Horizons. No, you cannot direct your fleet carrier defense to shoot them nor more than any live player can put a dent in your FC. But you can go to texting or more advanced using your comms headset to meet new friends or with your squadron.

Then all we need is the bar seen in any station also in the carrier so that we can interact with live players and discuss how good or evil that we want to be today. It would of course be an on foot Odyssey feature. Notice how many latest greatest Frontier store suits only work in Odyssey?

So having a fleet carrier interior and making it useful in the game is a great way to go. As for the engine room or other ship interiors I don't care. I pay millions per week so that my crew takes care of my carrier. The Captain never goes to the engine room. Meanwhile with on foot emotes you can now have your crew salute you if you have the bindings to set them up. Is it worth it? Might be your immersion thing.

Regards

Yes

Thank for you confirming it is official per your link. Now we'll see.

Well, I recall months back on a similar comment around interiors for fleet carriers, but here we are. There are definitely practical reasons to have this capability but mostly to provide for a more complete & integrated experience with Odyssey.

With the introduction of APEX shuttles, it provides an option to taxi around the bases (planets/stations) without having to ever having to fly in my own ship. However, I can't do that when all my ships are on my FC & there's no way to get to a station without taking one of the ships. Otherwise, this is also a more elegant way to get on/off the FC (instead of an escape pod). Think of FC slavers for example.

Of course, you're entited to your POV but I do see value to support this.

Fleet Carriers move, one jump and you can be out of range of any reachable Odyssey or Horizons port, you could potentially jump to an FC then be stuck, having to use the emergency escape pod which may drop you who knows where.

Isn't the reverse true as well? The point is to have the unhindered capability to travel by shuttle for the planetary missions. Moreover, rules around the range can always change as well.
Anyway, all these are moot at this point since we haven't even see the FC interiors yet.

Not sure if this is the place to post this as I'm sure it doesn't yet fit into the 'issues' category yet......or does it. When on my fleet carrier on the bridge or in the Captains room, with a view of the landing pads...........no ships ever land, no traffic at all. Go out to my ship, launch briefly, lots of ships start to land. Go back inside fast, get to the bridge, no landings or take offs. Hang out for an hour, nada. This is the same anywhere I go regardless of the size of system or amount of traffic.
Anyone else run into this.........can't just be me!?

It's appears to be the same for everybody, what appears to be happening is that once you are in the FC you aren't generating an instance outside the FC, so no NPC's can spawn on your instance.
