fleet carrier navigation there must be an easier way?

So I'm struggling to find a way of getting from A to B using the FC star map it seems its guess work or stab at a star to plot close to 500ly jump either you're way under or over and so are out of range. I understand there are 3rd party route planners but this is dependent on someone already been there and plotted a course. I'm way out in Colonia so that's not much good because where I go no one has usually gone. I Know people are crying out for a route planner like any other ship for FC but that's falling on deaf ears. Has someone got an answer or a way they manage this? Cheers Cmdr C

For doing it in-game if you're at your carrier you can just plot a route using your ship, and following points around that route to get a good approximate 500ly jump. you can even make a ship with 500ly fuel range to use for this.

For plotting a long trip via carrier I use ED Discovery and set the jump range to 500. You can also use Spansh through the Discovery interface.

I think it would be great if the was some kind of marker (like a ring around the FC) that showed up on the map showing the current maximum range of the Fleet Carrier.
That way when you zoom out on the map, you would see just how far you can jump at this time.
This would also be great idea for all ships. :D

Using the ingame fleet carrier galmap isn't so bad once you get used to it. Zoom out to speed up your target selector, zoom in to slow it down. Make sure your galmap navigation keys are bound. It is clunky, but not too bad after you have done it a couple dozen times. I find it pretty quick now. Also as a tip, you can copy/paste the destination star from either the normal ship galmap or the FC galmap (bottom icon on righthand side of screen). This is handy if you are choosing your next destination while still in FC cooldown. It doesn't allow you to set the target, but at least you can copy the name of the target.
