'Fleet Carrier Purchase Failed'......

Hmm, 'Fleet Carrier Purchase Failed'......'Connection Error Black Adder'.......seriously, what is going on over there, anyone else getting this, for Nth time too, I actually lost track lol, there just doesnt seem to be any resolution to it...... Obviously its on their end, apparently they need an entire massive IT infrastructure and servers upgrade, or people are going to be leaving this game faster than they joined up, Im definitely considering it after all the nonsense......Why not just let a US server company help handle the workload, we have lots of them here willing to help......

It's just economics, I'm afraid.

FDev will know, historically, how much network traffic increases after a big update and they'll also know how much it's likely to drop off again afterwards.
Obviously, their server hardware is scaled to deal with average load rather than peak load which, although inconvenient, is understandable since peak load might require 2x or even 3x the resources of average load.

Course, it could certainly be argued that there's something of a "catch 22" situation going on here, in that server load declines because people give up trying to do stuff and stop playing and, if the servers could handle the load, more people would keep playing for longer and the extra server capacity would be justified.

As a great man once said; "All this has happened before and it will all happen again".

I both hate and love game companies. Barely there infrastructure that doesn't quite support the game if it suddenly gets popular again. It is how it has always been and will always be. We really can't complain since the game is still viable and getting massive content updates after a decade. Very few games make it this long. Of course after the hype of the new release dies down, all the casuals will disappear and the game will work fine again, and we die-hards can get back to business as usual.

Strange, the game plays and such but the minute that you try and buy an fc then it crashes, must be the configuration and requirements for the fc and its purchase, apparently more than one of us trying to do the same thing and or using the same servers for whatever purpose.....

Yes, there's been lots of network issues the last few updates. It makes zero sense from a business perspective to try to get more players into your game without the server infrastructure to sustain them. It ends up making the people who come back or are new to the game get a terrible impression of the game and leave.

Still the same 'Fleet Carrier Purchase Failed'......'Connection Error Black Adder'.......Hmm, I mean if the game is this broken then perhaps they should have upgraded the infrastructure and servers before all the releases etc and rushing it all out the door so it could just do a nose dive and crash, makes more sense?

If you haven’t already how about contacting Frontier Support via

Okay okay, I swear Im gonna hijack this bloody fc, right out of that station with a squad of hand picked mercs, sorry ya gotta have a military background to be considered! lol.......

I wonder how many days that this may take to resolve, so far its going on several days with no seemingly end in sight?......
I have found that many others have the same exact complaints of 'Fleet Carrier Purchase Failed', so now thinking that this may have been done purposefully altho I am not sure why, its possible that Purchasing a Fleet Carrier has been disabled or taken down by fdev for unknown reasons......

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I wonder if... how shall I put this...FDev are okay with people being unable to buy FCs right now?
I mean, it seems like FCs moving around is causing headaches for FDev at the moment so they're probably not going to be too upset if the number of FCs in the game doesn't increase.

I wonder if anybody has managed to successfully purchase an FC recently?

Wondering the same thing, has anyone recently purchased an fc, as I was on my 100th try and about ready to say screw this and uninstall it......

Can you purchase and perform carrier operations when playing Horizon (not Odyssey)?
I have not had any disconnection issue playing it in Open yesterday.

I'm not getting Black adders, but I am struggling to transfer goods reliably from carrier to ship (via the carrier's sell market). The first item seems to transfer okay sometimes but almost always the next items don't appear to transfer. If I log out and back in again, sometimes a load more items show up in my inventory and the market on my carrier adjusts but sometimes the hold in my ship is empty.

Having to log out / back in is really killing the immersion in this colonisation expansion for me even more than the grind of space-trucking all the materials in the first place.

It is very pretty though o7

It works for me to open the market again after buying cargo from the carrier. Looks like a caching bug that reappeared.

  • open carrier market
  • buy cargo
  • exit market screen
  • open market screen again
  • cargo appears in cargo hold

I thought I'd tried that and it wasn't making a difference but I'll give it another shot tonight..
