Fleet Carrier Speed

Just a fun little thing I thought I'd share; the fleet carrier has a max jump range of 500 Light Years, and makes this jump in exactly 20 seconds (from the beginning to end of stage: Traversing Hyperspace)

This means the carrier has an equivalent top speed of 788,400,000c !

This is 394,003 times faster than max super cruise speed (2,001c), and I believe, faster than any sci-fi show/movie ship to ever exist. The fastest ship in Star Fleet had a max speed of 7912c, in terms of speed, it might only be surpassed by something like the Stargate.

I disagree. Ever gone Plaid?

Actually the spore drive in the USS Discovery in Star Trek Discovery is a lot faster. Pretty much instantaneous travel to anywhere in the galaxy.

Can we have those? :D

Spacing Guild Heighliners would like to have a word with you.

As would the Heart Of Gold.

Edit -

And possibly the TARDIS.

And possibly Galactic Hyperdrives from the original Elite for that matter.

Golan Trevize would laugh at your slow carriers.

In Foundations Edge he instructs the computer to make 28 jumps in a row. It covers 2/3 of the galaxy in half an hour.
Even that isn't it's maximum speed. It could have made the journey in less time but he didn't trust the computer.

I'm not sure we ever find out how fast the TARDIS travels. It might take two weeks go a couple of yards down the road, but because it can
go back in time it could compensate by hopping back said two weeks and appear to arrive mere moments later.

I'm not saying it does take 2 weeks. I'm sure it manages a decent enough speed, but the ability to travel in time means that even if it was
the slowest and most obsolete travel capsule in the Gallifreyan garage it would still arrive on time.

because the amount of time ship spends in hyperspace is always the same (apart from situations when it's infinite), it means that the distance it travels is always the same - probably zero. This means Fleet carriers are almost completely unable to move. Their drive just allows them to be stationary somewhere else, if used.
