Fleet Carriers and suggested faction influence bump

As a previous thread of mine re. multiple fleet carriers showing up in a cute refinery system I've established (8 Carriers and counting) it got me thinking...

Basically, for every fleet carrier that orbits a station, port or outpost then that carrier's presence should have some positive impact on the faction controlling that structure. Nothing crazy but some bump to that factions systems influence on the basis that a new albeit temporary connection has been made. The longer the carrier is parked up then the greater the multiplier, presumably capped at some point. Full disclosure, I don't run a fleet carrier so those with a better understanding of the mechanics could perhaps suggest tweaks to make this work.

The technical problem with this is that FCs I don't think can orbit stations - only stars and planets. So it would then have to apply to ports on/around the same planet the FC orbits, which wouldn't necessarily be controlled by the same faction (and therefore might end up largely cancelling out once all the effects are considered)

I think it would also be very difficult to balance this because of how BGS influence effects already work - any effect strong enough to be noticeable at all for a controlling faction on 60% would be very powerful for a faction hanging around on 3%. At that point it might end up as mainly retreat prevention than anything else.

You certainly cannot use a station as the destination for an FC jump so at best you are going to share an orbit most likely you will be in a different orbit around the same body.
Now that might work for colonisation type links.

Why would an FCs presence be a boost to the faction couldn’t it be a detriment the way a big out of town shopping centre can mess up town centre businesses.

yeah all good points. shame that with these fleet carriers turning up on mass that they don't have some sort of development impact on the system they are moored up in other than random acts of mission undertaking etc by the visiting commanders.
