Newcomer / Intro Fleet Carriers outside the bubble

So if one buys a FC and you take off into the black, how do you get the money for the weekly up-keep on one?
I am under the impression that you have to pay an up-keep for the crew?

Any advice or information on this please...o7

You have to put the money into the carrier's account, and it gets paid from there. So you need a balance beforehand. I just stuck a billion creds in there and let it be.

I guess I really know anything about Carriers, but can you sell data to yourself or pay from what you have in your account?

You won't be selling exploration data to yourself(i.e. the carrier) - what would you do with it? You'd be selling data to a branch office of Interstellar Cartographics. For the convenience, they take a cut - IIRC 10% for Cartographics (i.e. operating cost for the branch office) and 10% for the carrier (i.e. rent for the office space).

So, if you sell data to your carrier, you receive 90% of the usual value, anyone else gets 80% (and you get 10%).

My FC has the basic repair, refuel, armoury additions costing 9.5 million credits per week. Commodities trading is built in. I'm not into shipyard, outfitting, etc. With a billion credits assigned to the FC that pays the bills for two years. Add 21000 tons of Trintium fuel and it can fly deep into the black without having to worry to much about it. Add a dedicated Python asteroid miner for Tritium and you have a backup.

With my Deadly rated NPC pilot and not making credits in the black they don't seem to mind. Me getting space madness after being in the black for 3 months? Could be a problem.

I flew an Orca to Colonia, put a small fleet together there and became allied with a lot of factions in a separate account. Another way to go.
