Fleet carriers: QOL improvements

I finally obtained my new fleet carrier without need to do too much grind at once. After a couple of weeks I see some things missing or done sub-optimal and would like to suggest following list of QOL improvements:
  • show hyperspace drive cooldown timer (on carrier galaxy map and in concourse, in addition to carrier management screen) or better remove it completely (if needed keep time between jumps as-is 15 + 5 minutes).
  • do not close galaxy map when route is plotted (especially when plotting is failed)
  • show notifications when carrier management/route planning screen is open (similar to FSS)
  • fix/avoid loading state when getting back from route plotting (map) back to management screen (between closing one and opening another panel sometimes it even shows first person view, despite that both are full-screen panels).
  • add orbital (mouse, touch) controls to rotate/zoom carrier view on management screen and switch off auto-rotation when view set manually.
  • if possible add some interactivity to carrier management screen, e.g. selecting a landing pad and showing contact info if there is a ship docked.
  • add button to cancel jump to management screen (navigation panel) and to carrier captain lounge (big red button).
  • add new filter to navigation panel to show all bookmarked objects (within radius of e.g. 20ly) to simply make carrier visible while filtering out other carriers (was requested many times on the forum).
  • please add more nice-looking paint jobs (or adjust existing), current ones look too generic. Add presents at discounted price combining paint jobs, engine details and landing pads by colors.
  • carrier captain seat could look more like a ship seat with virtual/projected panels: some sort of radar view of surrounding space, ability to select targets/contacts, manage cargo of your current ship etc.). It is just more convenient to sit in your ship while making multiple jumps than in FC captain seat.
  • allow to target fleet carriers as short range Apex destination and call Apex shuttle from the carrier (in a way similar to calling from planet surface). To allow easier to move multiple ships to FC and travel without ships.
  • in general when taking any seats (including FC captain one) allow to look around (to move camera a bit, similar as when using terminals) so that the animation of sitting and standing would not look so much pre-programmed (don't know how to describe it better).
It is my personal opinion, maybe I missed something, but it is small subset of QOL of improvements which I believe could make the experience of owning FC better.
 
How about ' skins ' for carriers , when put on ,it makes the carrier look like a mouse or a rabbit or owl , would be fun and bring in lots of cash for frontier..< wink wink >
 
I'd like to see a part where you could rent out space on your FC to friends or anyone you like. I remember being a noob and just wanting somewhere to store stuff. if stations and settlements did this, that's all the better.

Maybe it is because of light difference or issues with anti-aliasing (with all the edges jiggling), but in the web store on grey background they look (even) better than in game.
 
The top four items for me are:

1. Ship Navigation screen: Regardless of filters, display favorites. So you can turn off carriers but still see your own.
2. Ship Throttle: Don't set ship throttle to zero when accessing carrier mgt screen.
3. Fleet Carrier Titium: Allow transfer of tritium directly from storage to fuel tank. If cmdr needs to be onboard that is fine.
4. Add UC: As an accessible service on the fleet carrier. Even just on the kiosk.
 
Also, I would like to see more activities possible while jumping. Both in Ship and Fleet Carrier.
  • I don't like menus automatically closing on me.
  • I don't like periods of time where I am blocked out of any ingame activity.
  • I would like to check menus, select stuff, whatever, while jumping.

Yes, I fully realize the jump screens are actually loading screens. That's fine. If a jump takes 5 extra seconds but I have full access to ship & carrier menues I will accept that. And if some specific info can't be updated during a jump thats fine too.

Most of the things are quite nice
However Apex to carriers will never happens

Not like the others will have a chance, but still 😂
It seems to me that Carriers are a done job.
The only love they got was when we got the Interiors, but i think that was it.

What's the logic on this? I can't really see it making sense, the time limits are of course going to remain, they are necessary for the system to work properly, but I don't see the sense in removing it altogether if they don't out it in the concourse or galaxy map? You see it before you get to the galaxy map so you already know what it is.

This would help not to even open Galaxy map Carrier management (with intention to plot route) before cooldown completes as you cannot plot route. Do you see why plotting route is not possible before cooldown? Can it be that after cooldown conditions change or anything like that? I understand possible need for 20 minutes time between jumps (5 minutes cooldown + 15 preparation), I don't understand inability to plot route while waiting for the cooldown.

I have two main requests:

We should be able to visit other FC modules as well. For example, why can't we visit Universal Cartograpics like Vista Genomics?

A civilian version of both the Majestic-Class Interdictor and the Farragut-Class Battle Cruiser can be built. Personally I would happily buy ARX for these two.

And yes "Civilian version". The Drake-Class Carrier has no heat relay, the civilian version is MajesticClass and Farragut may not be on either.

I know the cooldown is 5 minutes, I just wait 5 minutes before trying to plot a route. However sometimes I might make a mistake and get in early, and the timer in carrier management warns me, but if the timer didn't exist I would have to go into the galaxy map, select a destination and try to plot a route to find out whether the time is expired or not, so not having it would lead to lots of unnecessary button clicking, and having it in the galaxy map is redundent because I have already seen it, there just doesn't seem to be any logic to this point.

Is there other reason to open Galaxy map from Carrier management except plotting carrier route? It is minor issue, but if I overlook cooldown timer info in Carrier management and after opening Galaxy map and finding next point to jump I feel frustration not knowing how much time left (if I need to wait 5 seconds or 2-3 minutes).

For anything else I can open "normal" galaxy map. I don't see why "normal" galaxy map could not have this additional button for carrier (if you own one) to plot route and why this carrier plotting route panel on Galaxy map could not have cooldown counter.

I would like to be able to continue to look at the map, but instead I am forced to close Galaxy map after plotting route (also when plotting failed). Why?

To cancel route (imagine you have 10 seconds to systems lockdown) I need to go to to carrier management, then to Galaxy map, then center/click to the destination and then I can "cancel" the route. Why not adding a button to cancel jump to the carrier management screen? Or even better to the wall next to the terminal in my captain lounge (at least something more to interact with).

As said these are just QOL improvements I suggest. Not necessary everyone else should experience the same.
 
I like these but the real QoF I want from FCs is an optional service for engineers, including on foot/experimental access, and material traders. It takes so much time to grind I don't want to fly around the bubble for two hours just to interact with menus.

Actually those would be good enough for me, especially closing the map after each failed rout plotting is really painfull.
