Fleet Carriers: This is/was my plan

I would move my carrier to a system 14 kLy away from Sol, located between SagA* and The Bubble in an almost straight line, slightly above the galactic plane and park the fleet carrier in orbit around ringed ELW that I discovered last year which you can see in the image below.

I bookmarked it and called it 'Home' because I intended to come back here in the future.

Then I would enable fleet carrier and set it up in a way that everyone who is passing nearby can land, rest, sell the data they gathered and move on to whatever their initial destination was. I would advertise this and let people know its permanent location (permanent as in: I don't plan to move FC anywhere from this location).

Meanwhile, I would scan all the systems in a very large radius around this remote base, discovering other interesting stuff in its vicinity, knowing that there is a safe haven somewhere close I can always come to.

This would keep me occupied for months to come.

At the moment, it is too early to tell if this will be possible, but I hope it will. Seems that the plan will be possible, based on the latest changes Frontier announced.

I think this is the kind of thing that a lot of explorers hoped they could do, after the carriers were announced. We'll see if FDev allows for this to become a reality.

I think this is actually what FD is afraid of. Imagine a giant network of relay stations throughout the galaxy completely independent from the bubble. The horror!

OP, this is a very nice idea
Makes me thinking about offering a similar service at the Four Courners Monument, providing some "stablility" for all explorers between SagA* and BeaglePoint.

I actually think that is one of the main points and appeals of Elite. It is almost as if FDEV had designed the game like that on purpose!

They're deducted automatically from the carrier's credit balance, which you can add to at any time.

Now imagine if at some point, frontier could offer some very basic missions on these carrier stations. Even if only on remote systems, and not affecting the bgs.

It would break the monotony of exploring and would greatly enchance fleet carrier gameplay!

It makes sense, cause fleet carriers are essentially bases, and they are hopefully working on player bases missions, since base building is coming up..
