Fleet Carriers vs The Neutron Highway

Yo! Manymak!

I'm a Bubble Monkey. Hate the black.
I've got projects I work on out in the California Nebula and Witch Head Nebula. Oh and there's that Raw Mats collection region around HIP 36601

But apart from that I hang around the bubble doing the dirty work for The Alliance.
And look, I love Selene Jean. Love her. She gets me hard. Real hard. But
- see I have this ship. Combat ship. Total pig of a thing. Made Elite in her. Shield less Frag Krait. Call her "Cyco Star Pig" after a dead junky rock star mate. Cold, heavy, hard. Real hard. I've had CMDRs try ramming me. Like on my way OUT of a CZ, half hull yeah? They smack in thinking I'll pop. My hull drops like two percent as their shields drop and they become an, uh "legitimate target".
Anyway - I love this beast and want the best for her.
So Selene - Alliance girl, right? She can do my Armour hard up to G4, but if I want harder, I gotta buddy up to that Empire lass whatshername.
And I'm not doing that. I have Zero Empire rank and I'm keeping it that way.
I do have some Fed rank. That was kind of a "meat byproduct" as a result of flipping that Toxic Federation Prison System to Alliance. You couldn't get past security without high Fed Navy rank. Never used the Fed Rank for anything else. I've got a Vulture but no other Fed ships - none with rank. Never been to Sol. Hardcore.

Anyway point is - I don't bend the knee to those genocidal Empire maniacs, and never will. Zero Empire Rank and no Cutter for me.

So I resigned to being G4 forever. But then I was sniffing around INARA and I noticed that the Colonia Engineer Etienne Dorn does G5 now.
But Yeesh- 22kylies is a long way to the shop if ya want a sausage roll.

So here's my conundrum - How to get to Colonia without dying of boredom.

1) Neutron Highway. - Sure I could Google a list, and will probably have to but has someone written up a guide? Like maybe with some tourist destinations along the way?

2) Fleet Carrier ferry service?
So who is starting up a regular ferry service out to Colonia?
I can't pay you in game time, otherwise I could just fly out there myself. The game doesn't offer any other way of doing transactions I don't think.
But I could sling you Twenty bucks to a PayPal or your OnlyFans If you'll ferry my Krait out to Jaques'.

I'm assuming I can leave my Krait on your Fleet Carrier and make my own way out there in my DBX or my ExploraConda.

Anyway - look me up on INARA and PM me there if you can just make this happen. Artie has made a Bulletin Board over at INARA so maybe I won't be the only paying passenger.

For the rest of us - is there a reason this can't work? Did I miss something?

Neutron highway all the way if you just want the blueprint.

Build the longest range ship you can get (Conda w/70+ LY)
and use spansh.co.uk

Put in your jump range, make sure you have a Afmu and scoop and jump the 120 or 130 jumps in three hours.

After that you won't ever fear neutrons any more.

Suicidewinder back from Colonia after having the blueprints (make sure to log off before going back to see if they stuck)

Depending on how things go with work/lockdown. I'll likely be heading to Colonia on release, then exploring the area. I won't be travelling at a high pace, about a week or so.

I'l be taking the scenic route. Two other cmdrs onboard, and perhaps some stowaways.

Fleet carriers allows you to transfer credits ingame, I'd be surprised if skippers are asking for payment on long voyages, probably just fuel donations. Cost is around 200 million for the required 5000+ tonnes.

Neutron highway with a 75+ LY Anaconda. It'll take you about two hours to get from Sol to Colonia if you're doing it right. And then you can unlock the engineers there at your leisure, pin the blueprints you need so you can use them when needed.

A question about using Neutron highway. You still have to input every jump manually, or is there another way nowdays?
I just use the in-game route plotter, exclude all non-scoopable stars (except for neutron stars obviously) and set the plotter to use the selected stars only. It is almost as fast as manually plotting everything from Spansh, but a lot less hassle.

EDIT: Of course, the route to Colonia is typically done in three stages. Sol -> start of Neutron Highway, then Start of Neutron Highway -> End of Neutron Highway, and finally End of Neutron Highway -> Colonia. Plotting a direct route won't work since neutron stars are more commonly found 1000 LY above or below the galactic plane.

Hmm.... technically speaking, this is what you'd have to do :

  • find a (future) Carrier CMDR
  • work out a deal (payment), i.e. selling Low Temp DIamonds into the Carrier at lowest price (Carrier guys can set buy price to as low as 5%, then sell themselves at full as desired)
  • park your Ships onto the Carrier
  • wait a day or so until the Carrier has reached Colonia
  • Optional : ask the Carrier guy also to wait for you to return your Engineered Ships and return to the bubble, if you don't want to stay there

Tritium Range is enough to reach Colonia and also to make it back, so Endurance isn't an issue for the Carrier.

Heck I could do it (got a soft spot for the Alliance guys ;) ) , since I have similar Engineering Plans for my fleet. Will have to re-check but I might do that mass-Engineering in Colonia just as well.
Ideally, though, it might be best to ask around if friends of you might want to join in and do the same. That'd be more efficient, unless you prefer being the sole "VIP Tourist" on the Carrier ;)

(only downside... Tritium is quite expensive in large volumes...so the trip wouldn't be super cheap I guess)

For just a mere single Ship that isn't super-expensive to transfer? I'd grab a max. Range DBX (or comparable) and Neutron-hop to Colonia, then transfer the Ship there.
61 hours until it arrives.. but Colonia has enough to offer for the little wait.
After Engineering is done, suicidewinder back to the Bubble and transfer both Ships back.

While keeping in mind the cost for transferring ships to Colonia and back, which isn't cheap. :) Easier these days if you've gotten billions from mining, of course.

Let me crunch the numbers on the Carrier Fuel for the "Speed-Run". :

22000LY = ~44 jumps @ 500LY each
250t Tritium per jump = ~11000t Tritium used to reach Colonia
(Beta2) current Galactic Avg. for Tritium = 41.684Cr

Well, that'd be quite expensive.. Not really feasible for a single "VIP" and only a mere single Ship - and that's only the trip to Colonia... not back.

Technically yes, but all these tools have a handy copy button in these days, so you can easily Ctrl-V them in your star map.

More on topic, I might take my FC to Colonia as well if I get enough interested passengers from my friends and squadron to deliver me part of the tritium required. I suspect there are many people out there who have the same idea.

450M is still cheaper than ship transfer for ships over about 350M in value, though. Definitely ways to make that win-win.

Like a few of my ships to hitch a ride. Will donate fuel. Let me know where and when to board.

What's the limit on # of ships?

You're right. Look, I'm doing this from m down the lake with the fam, so it's all from memory.
And in the words of Keith Richards - "68? - yeah sorry you're going to have to ask Bill Wyman."

Maybe it's Bill.
Bill Turner, that is. Not Bill Wyman. Or Bill Burroughs.
Who does armour?

Wait now I am really confused.
Let me go look at the details again.

[wanders off muttering about Alliance girls that go all the way and that Rubbernukr bastsrtd not contributing to the Empire fashion parade thread what's the world coming to at least 777 has a reliable offer.]

Neutron Highway. Sol - Colonia 107 jumps in a 66 ly ship. (AspX and Phantom qualifies there and both have decent scooping)
But you will need to do some extra stops for refuel because most of those neutrons dont have conveniently placed companions that can be scooped.
Alternatively, you can use a Conda and with the same 66 jump range, you can load it with extra fuel tanks (64+32) and refuel every 16-18 jumps instead every 6-7 jumps in an AspX/Phantom

Except when i went out for Explorer Anchorage CG and i had to drag a Conda (for mining and combat CG) - every other time i used an AspX - her SC maneuverability is a joy if you want to do some scanning along the way - otherwise a Phantom will do as good

IF you want to do some sightseeing and take a leisure pace, Colonia Highway with Neutron Highway in between the stops.
