Fleet Carriers - What We Know

Not a huge amount at the moment :D

The overview back at the 2017 Expo was:
  • "A mobile base of operations for Squadrons where its members can refuel, rearm, and respawn."
Source: Expo 2017 Livestream [1]

The 'proposal' back in May 2018 was:
  • "So the fleet carrier is going to be a very large ship, which members of the Squadron will be able to dock with."
  • "If enough of a certain resources is available the ship will be able to move."
  • "That's not on the weekly tick, it's whenever you have the resources to do it."
  • "There will be various other things you can upgrade on it, and things to go with that."
  • "People [not in the Squadron] will be able to visit your Squadron's fleet carrier, but they will not get permission to dock"
  • "They can see it, so that if we do manage to get any customisation options in and stuff other people can see what you've done. And if we do get visual representation of upgrades, for example, they can see what you've upgraded"
Source: Squadron Focused Feedback Vid [1] & [2]

The Teaser Video:
  • Suggests they can have at least 8L, 4M and 4S landing pads
  • Definitely at least 14 pads at any rate

This means they'll be available to solo and non group players then.

Basically stations that we can name and move! Doubt they'll be destructible, could see some interesting squadron and clan battles then if others can visit them.

Instead of having people queuing up to land on the L pad at megaships we'll have queues of carriers waiting for free orbits in Shinrarta D, there's bound to be a race to get to the notable locations.

You should find a new squadron.

Why? All squadrons are going to have a small amount of members that will be allowed to jump the carrier. I don’t put a significant amount of my life into this game, so I’ll never be in that group no matter which squadron I join.

Id go with, nothing other then what we have seen in the trailer.
We have no idea what proposed ideas have been changed or deleted, and what might have been added in the time since the streams and Q&As

Well, this looks like a fun feature the the lucky few squadron commanders who will actually get to use them. The rest of us are just peasants refueling our squadron royalty’s ship so they can jump it to wherever their hearts desire.
If you’re on Xbox you can join my squadron and I’ll promote you to top rank :D

It's not like it takes a huge amount of time to participate in a squadron, you just have to find a good one, and hang out for whatever they're doing. It helps if you pick one that's already doing what you like to do.

As for "The rest of us are just peasants refueling our squadron royalty’s ship", that really depends on the squadron. Some are very hierarchical, and some are basically flat. Depends on the squads (and the leaders') preferences. You might have to hop around a little to find a good fit. I've found that having a squad provides the thing the game seems to lack at the moment - a narrative. Having a reason to do a particular things is way more fun (to me), than wandering around doing whatever.

These two things... ROFLMAO....

Absolutely stupid. Another mechanic to force players into a grind.

All a ship needs is FUEL to move or jump, for god sakes.

If a carrier wants to jump, just ensure that players either PAY in Crs for the fuel......
or have to buy Hydrogen Fuel from stations/ports, and then transfer them to the Carrier.....

Holy crap. I hope FDev doesn't make players have to grind for stupid synthesis mats just for the ship to move.
A carrier that isn't able to instantly move to another system, but needs days or weeks of grind....... IS USELESS as a military vehicle.

This is what I'm afraid of. If it requires a large squadron, then it requires the majority of players to abstain from having one, even if they really want one. Not because they're bad at the game, not because they dont have the free time, not because they're bad at making friends- but because they arent the leader.

I'm hoping you need to supply it with large amounts of hydrogen fuel for a jump, and a load of other commodities for repair and rearm.

It'd also be cool if you can put out requests for these commodities for other pilots to land, and sell them, providing they have permission.

I want to know how well armed they are though, and if we can customise their weapons.

It'll also be interesting to see how the command and destination system is going to work. Can you pick an exact location? Or just a body to jump too?

And I would be afraid of giving every player a fleet carrier.

We have powerplay players who pledge themselves to a JPEG of an imaginary leader right?
How's this any different? Except that we have one or a few charismatic actual players who've managed to create his own little cult of personality in game?

Not everybody was born to be a leader. Some are just followers.

so its a mobile station that you have to complete CG like ops to refuel and restock and is locked behind squadron!
