Flight Assist and how do you use it, XBOX Community?

Hello there and greetings from Germany!

I´m playing since GPP on my XBONE and I still learn new things in elite everyday. When I 1st saw the "GitGudGuide to the Gunship" (a lot of you should know that video by now) I liked the function FA-Off.
Before the Gunship, i wasnt even aware that this "Flight-Buff-Option" is an option for EVERY SHIP :)

My question here is, since I see a lot of those PC-Players really make use of the FA-Off when using HOTAS and dont fly anything else:

How and for which ship do you use your FA-Off on XBOX?
What are the maneuvers that you fly in a fight (PvP and PvE are welcome)

I´ll start as for my gunship:

FA-OFF is on "Y" so i have a quick button to switch on and off.
Normaly in CZ I disable FA when the enemy starts to flyby or when I assume that the he tries to circle around me.
I noticed, that you CAN put a constant Thrust on your ship (in FA-OFF mode) when you have a button combo set to a specific "ThrustPercentage" like 50% for most mobility or 75% for accurate Supercruise flight, which i have
LeftStick + Right Bumper is 50% Thrust
LeftStick + Left Bumper is 75% Thrust

Did some of you know that you can map Buttons to start by pressing LeftStick 1st and Right Bumper and map a total other control by pressing Right Bumper 1st and then LeftStick?

I use FA-Off a lot, especially since I have my Cutter. Though I have DD5 on it its still a sluggish Lady.
Usually I turn FA off after first engagement and turn it back on when my Opponent is dust.
In faster turning Ships I don't use it that excessive but still it can give you that little faster spin you need to keep target under the Crosshairs.

Now that I'm getting myself back in the saddle and do more combat in my new FDL I also try FA off but as much as I want it to work I just can't keep my weapons on target.
It simply must be me because I hear so many people say that FA off is the way to go.
As soon as I turn FA off I have to fight my ship more then the guy I try to kill, it's ludicrous realy, my son asked me if my ship was broken since I was going all over the place, he actually thought that my helm controll was destroyed.

Maybe my erratic flying will distract my foes in such a bad way that I can kill them as soon as I turn FA back on but I doubt if I could rely on that.

I use Flight Assist off almost exclusively for the Federal Dropship.
My button setup is rough and basic:
Left stick: roll (left-right) Vertical Thrusters (up-down)

Right stick: Yaw (left- right) Pitch(up-down)

When I need to pull a turn, pitch and vertical(or ventral) thrust plus boost is all I use. Basically boost/pitch/thrusters every time a change of direction is required, use the roll to change attitude as needed.
Pro tip:
To get to maximum ship velocity faster in FA off, roll your ship and apply ventral/vertical thrusters (I use left stick down and to the left) and boost, this send you in 'corkscrew' manoeuvre along your chosen vector, it'll make you harder to hit and you'll move faster (for some reason having ventral and lateral thrusters firing while boosting gives you more 'speed juice', I think it's an anomaly of the flight model FD have used).
