Flight Assist, glitch in system or lack of information

Ok, If we switch flight assist in off mode we fly in last dirrection and can turn to any spherical side, shoot and set energy lvl which we wish.
Question is: after using boost and then we use "FLIGHT ASSIST OFF" why speed is falling down how ship may loose its speed if engines are off ?
Maybe someone know's reason ?

Ages ago there were various nerfings of FA Off one of which was to stop ships flying along at max boost speed for an unlimited duration. It's a game mechanism rather than any form of actual physics.

It's a game design decision to break a physics a little and make fighting and moving through normal space reasonably doable and fun. Naturally ships normally wouldn't have a "speed limit", only different rates of acceleration, but that would be mess. So they instead function this way. They have normal speed and boost speed after which they slowly bleed speed back to normal. Even with FA off.

Otherwise we would be just turrets in space, whizzing by each other at mad speeds. :D
So take it as that. A price for the fun. Not everything have to be accurate.

Well, there is. Your ship's computer helps you to get your bearings and controls the ship so she doesn't exceed reasonable boundaries.
