I think this could be appreciated by both new pilots as well as seasoned ones. Toggable of course. I wrote "3D" cause i mean the speed in 3D space. It is however 2D (in the way i did it for demonstration of the idea). But the idea came from when we have FA off (Flight Assist) the current speedometer has all directions of speed bundled into one. So if it says 250 you dont know if its 250 longitudal, horizontal or vertical. You pull all thrusters to see which direction you are going. I know there are pilots that think this isnt adding anything, but im sure it would help many, and look neat for many of those seasoned by now. Im for realism, and i think this would be something a future spaceship would have since it has valuable info and is very slick and non intrusive. I just tried to go along with the design style here but it could look different. The idea was to have it small, clean and non imposing. It could be a bit more transparent and be on the window to the side a bit maybe. All about taste here hehe.

So, there are 2 lines laid like a plus/cross. 1 horizontal axis and 1 vertical axis. Since we already have the longitudal speed (hope i got that right? I mean forward/backward speed) the 2 axis would show us how much speed and what direction we are traveling up/down and left/right (see image). For demo i positioned it to the right and under the speedometer. This can be placed wherever FD finds it to be best fitted of course. I just added it there when i did my quick and dirty PS to have something to show.

In the image above we can see that the ship isnt moving forward (0 speed on the speedometer) however in the "3D space speedometer" we see the the ship is moving rather fast upwards vertically and slightly to the right horizontally. Its a quick glance thing, a pilots maneuver aid if you will. You throw a quick eye and you immediately see how your ship is moving. When the standard speedometer is at 0 and both 3D speedometers blips is at the center of the cross you are completely still. It could be made neater with speed value if it could be worked in nicely, but isnt needed really.

What do you think guys? Maybe this helps newcomers enough to not get threads about nerfing FA off with aid thrusters ey?
(Hey, i would find this very useful as well as im learning atm).
