Flight Assist Off Docking Issue - Unnatural Movement in Letterbox

So, as per the title, I'm getting a strange issue where I'm being shunted into the middle of the letterbox when docking with Flight Assist Off. This happens both entering and exiting the station. This appears to happen whether or not I have Rotational Correction on.

So, two things:

1. Can anyone else confirm this also happens to them?

2. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing it?

Do you think it's a bug (in which case I'll submit a ticket), or intended gameplay? It seems to be the reverse of what centrifugal/petal force would cause. It also doesn't happen actually within the station itself, which would also suggest it's not a physics thing. Though saying that, the ship does get jerked slightly to the left on takeoff.
That kinda makes me wonder if it's an issue with a game transition.

getting jerked to left upon take off ?, sounds like a controls conflict try disabling landing controls options and just use conventional flight controls
in the controls options menu
size of ship may be a factor so try a smaller ship for same effect

I can confirm it. I often run FA off on returning to a station.
It's like some kind of electromagnetic force trying the centralise the ship to the middle of the portal as you approach the toast-rack. However, with FA off, the ship keeps on drifting.
I suspect it was intentional, but it is very annoying.

This used to happen in the beta. It was like a docking assist, it was complained about and got removed or heavily toned down. I hope its not back.

Good thinking. I don't believe I use different controls, but I'll double-check.

My feeling was it simulated the rotation of the station, so I never worried too much about it. The letterbox thing got me thinking if they were connected, though.

The cattle grid emits a strong EM field that moves ships to the middle by design. It's done on purpose because pilots are muppets that cant fly straight - no kidding.
