Newcomer / Intro Flight assist OFF with mouse.

Hi all.

I've been playing ED from the beta, always with mouse and keyboard.
From reading around looks like that changing mouse axes to relative mouse control makes flight assist off flying "easier".
The problem is that there is no keyboard shortcut configurable to turn relative mouse control on and off.

And using this control method outside of FA off flight is a pain.

Ideally one could create a macro that changes mouse axes to relative when engaging FA off, and turns back mouse axes to normal when exiting from FA OFF.

Is it somewhat possible ?

Thanks !

I don't think it is possible to create a macro that would change the game's binds on the fly.
Well, it is possible, but the game wouldn't reflect it.

I've seen people using F/A off mouse quite effectively, some even claim it's easier and more precise than HOTAS.
It is possible that somebody chimes in with a genuine advice, but in the meantime, I recomend simply practicing. :)

I've tried it and I am still trying to get the sensitivity of the mouse set. If I just go FA Off as it is now, I move my mouse less than a 1/4" and I am yo-yoing back and forth. But I am afraid that if I move the sensitivity slider up to give me more "play" in the steering, when I go to FA On, using the mouse will be a joke.

Still working at learning FA Off...Not easy, and definitely makes you give respect to the pilots who make it seem simple, AND to the real Astronauts (Mercury-Apollo) who HAD to FA Off, or die.

There's a relative mouse toggle script for mouse users. It uses vJoy. I can't vouch for its effectiveness or whether it changes the characteristics of mouse control (my first thought is "how can it not?" though) but it does allow you to toggle relative and absolute mouse schemes, which is what you want to do.

Many thanks, I’ll give this a try as soon as possible :)
