Flight Assist Off

Hi. I just looked and it appears I have been flying with Flight Assist in Cruse or something like that.
Is it possible to set flight assist so that when using lateral (up, down, left right) thrusters, the assist comes off and you move with a bit more snap? If so, how would one do it...I don't mind admitting the controls setup menu scares me more than anything in game...

FA is locked on now in SC no way to change that.
In normal flight the best you can do is to set "FA off" to "toggle" on and off to a bind, that way if you hold this the "FA off "key and perform a manoeuvre, releasing the FA key will instantly revert back to FA. The normal method it when you press the button you have to re press it to get back to FA.
