Flight assist question

I'm trying to use flight assist options with a keyboard/ mouse configuration, however, every time I assign the function "disable flight assist" to a key and then activate that key in game, flight assist turns off, but then immediately turns on again. Is this me or am I doing something wrong?

FA off can be set to toggle or button press in the control options, sounds like it's set to button press for you and you want toggle.

Go to the keybinding screen, under the Flight Assist key you will find the option to change it from a push&hold to a Toggle kind of key.

There should be an option below it to choose between push to work or switch. Something of that nature.
