Proposal Discussion Flight control?

After successfully downloading & installing the game I selected the solo combat waste disposal mission and seeing that I had to customize the controls, I did so and noticed that there is no option for ship turning!? How do I turn my ship to my desired direction?

You have to roll and then pitch.

I don't understand! Roll, pitch and yaw to change direction? You guys are kidding me here :) No seriously guys, most if not all games require simple movement of the mouse. Oops, which reminds me; I recall keeping mouse "off" in the customized controls. Perhaps if I change mouse to "on" my ship would be allowed to change direction by mouse movement. What do you guys think? Am I on the right track here?

Hey guys. The help screen in mission refers to the "UI" button to select for viewing left & right side panels, and returning to the main view. What does "UI" mean, and where is it on the keyboard, or do I have to designate it in the custom controls whatever it means?

UI is user interface, pressing the button will bring up the ships info panels, you look left or right to select the one you want, and then navigate the panel using directions to select the function you need.

I'd turn it on if you want to use it, yes. (I use a joystick, so don't rely on me).

The pitch/roll thing is how the original 1984 played. We now have yaw too, but it's very weak for gameplay reasons. You may wish to play around with the yaw into roll options too, may help with the turning.

Stick with it, it's great fun. It's just not a FPS.

Hey Cmdrs. I understand now! I'm sticking with it as Yaffle suggested, and I'm playing the 3rd Sidewinder faceoff mission. It appears that the The devs arranged it so that as you complete each mission more abilities become available within the current and following missions. And as for my "UI" question above it would be nice if the devs advise us in the "Overview Mode" of the first "Waste disposal mission that the UI" buttons are hard coded as the 1,2,3, keyboard keys in the Main Menu when you select "Keyboard and Mouse only" in the controls. Gotta go. See you guys in game. Have fun! :)
