When it goes bad in six months and develops drift in a specific axis, don't buy a new one, contact TM Support and they will walk you through the process to get a new one for free.

I've played with HOTAS ever since the original X-Wing back in 1995 with the Thrustmaster FCS/WCS. For me, there is absolutely no other way to fly. For people who have played with a controller for a long time, it will take a while to get used to, but it's worth it. It'll just be really frustrating till you get good with it.

Some of the major advantages over controller are:
  1. You have access to all six axes of flight at the same time. On the controller you only have access to five. In the default configuration strafing left and right is not available, which makes landing or fitting into the mailslot a lot easier.
  2. You have more buttons available to customize for one-button-press options. You can bind things like 75% throttle, launching a heatsink, firing a shield cell bank, etc to a single button instead of using button combos on the controller.
  3. You have a more intuitive feel for your throttle position. If you've ever struggled with the L and R buttons to get your throttle to zero, you know this pain. That all goes away with the T.Flight One.
  4. Headlook is much easier. The hat stick is used to headlook, and you can set it to a toggle or a hold-down option. This lets you keep moving in any direction and adjusting your direction while headlooking. Controller is either headlook or control your ship, not both.
Here's the default mapping for the game. No setup needed. However, all of these can be customized using the in-game menu as well. You can also see some additional buttons on the base of the throttle as well.

What the picture gets wrong is that the stick twists, and that's the Yaw axis (or you can use the rudder pedals as mentioned above), not the buttons on the throttle. Also, the buttons on the throttle labeled "thrust forward/back" are actually your thrust left/right buttons and you don't have to hold Y to do it. Thrust forward/back is what your throttle does. But again, that's all customizeable.
