Flight insurance futures - invest now! (Or Securitizing Flying Without Rebuy for Fun and Profit.)

Not a week goes by where the forums (or Reddit, which is nearly the same thing) don't get some poor commander with a hearty supply of NaCL bemoaning the consequences of flying without a rebuy.

Well, that's the number 1 rule of this game. (My personal second rule of flying is "always carry a shield", and anyone who's seen my full-speed half- landing attempts will back me up on this.)

But, for every problem, there's always an elegant solution.

While the Pilot's Federation will loan you a small amount in case you come up short, it can often not be enough. What if we, the players, had the ability to invest in the re-buy for others? That is, I'm at a station. I go to Contacts and check the Investment Broker. Lo and behold, there's an unlucky commander there who had a turn of bad luck that coincided with a lapse in judgement, and his nicely-equipped Python with its 5 million credit rebuy is listed. He's flown off in his Freewinder, undoubtedly to find a station to park at and blast the developers on the forums, but in the meantime, I can sponsor this rebuy. I click "sponsor", and:
1) 5 million credits is deducted from my account
2) His Python is released and flown for him (free of cost) to the last station he was docked at
3) He gets a message explaining that his rebuy has been sponsored and now 10% of his profits will go to paying back back that rebuy - PLUS 10%[/B].

A day later I check again at any Investment broker. Lo and behold, this commander has quietly adopted a low-sodium high-grind diet and managed to make a bit of money for himself, and my investment account is already up to 2 million credits. A week later, I check again, and the investment returns of 5.5 million credits is waiting to be added to my account. I click "redeem" and the transaction is closed. Fantastic!

Of course, as investments go, there's always a risk.

What happens when Commander Griefer decides to keep wrecking his ship and hoping that someone will pay for it, even after he's already owes 10 percent of his profits to 5 different sponsors (for a 50% penalty)? Well, eventually, he's making 0% profit on anything he does, and maybe I never get paid back. It's an investment. Or maybe once he owes 100% of his profits, he can no longer re-buy a ship at all, and he's just stuck unable to make money for himself until he pays back his debts. It's a harsh, open galaxy out there. I have the option, of course, of dumping any investment over 30 days old, so if I don't think I'm going to get my money back, I can end it and get back what's been paid into the fund. (That is, if he's paid 400k, I can take that and end the 10% fee. )

Thoughts?

I like this. It solves a couple of problems. You have new players who act stupidly and leave dock with ships they sunk their last dime into hoping they can make rebuy before anything happens only to get hung up in the mail slot and get blown up or they are leaving and a griefer in a conda just wipes them out while they're plotting a jump and not paying attention (it's happened to me in my vette).

On the other hand, you have players with a LOT of cash and really nothing to spend it on so this would make them a bank of sorts, give them the ability to take risks in order to make even more while helping out the new players. It's elegant and doesn't require the dev's to keep recreating pilot's ships because they are new players who act like...new players.
