Currently, when I want to get from point A to distant point B, I have 3 "flight plan" options that I know of:
1) use navigation to plot a "fastest" path (fewest, longest jumps)
2) use navigation to plot an "economical" path (least fuel)
3) figure it manually (oftentimes my final flight plan will end up being a compromise between fastest and most economical)
If I figure it manually (#3), once I know which systems I'm going to hit, I can't find any way to "tell" the game, such as manually "stacking" a list of systems, such as how the game does it for #1 and #2, so instead, as I fly from system to system, every time I enter a system I have to pull up the list of nearby objects, scroll through to find the (next) system I'm looking for, select it as target manually, then get going. This takes my eyes off of what's going on around me for a crucial few seconds or more.
- Is there a way to manually lay-out/plot a multi-system "flight plan" with the nav computer so that while you're flying it'll just keep pointing you to the next system like it does when you let IT figure out the flight plan? If not, do we know if there are any plans to add something like this?
(I tried SHIFT- and CTRL-clicking/selecting systems in the galaxy map to see if that'd "stack" them, but no luck.)
- Is there a way (key bind would be awesome) to tell it to "resume flight plan" so it'd set the target back to the "next system" in your flight plan after you've targeted other stuff in the system (such as when exploring a system, or otherwise getting side-tracked) ?
Other things that'd be nice:
Ability to save/load flight plans so they don't need to be recomputed. (Yes, I know, lots of factors would affect whether you actually COULD run that flight plan successfully, such as type of ship, outfitting, amount of cargo, etc. but it'd be a good starting point, plus, if I'm running the same route more than once, it'd be awesome help.)
Ability to "tweak" the options that the built-in route computer figures out a path, similar to what it has now for setting the "amount of cargo" it computes with. More options (such as being able to tweak the size of the jumps it optimizes for, etc.) would be great. Do we know if there's any talk of more flexibility in the future? (I know an update to the flight planner is coming in 1.1, but any idea what's in it other than longer route calculation, which I am also happy for?)
(As an aside, loving the game and waiting for more stuff to come!)
