Flying Escort for a friend?

We need some kind of electronic hook to be able to fly escort for a friend. If you fly together, sort of, in super cruise and he gets interdicted in his trader, you don't stand much chance of jumping out and help him.

And another thing, it would be really nice if one could share profit from such an escort run. Like the escort would get 15% or 25% of the profit made...

When someone gets interdicted, the aggressor is not interdicting TWO targets. They're interdicting ONE target.

You can install an FSD Wake Scanner module to swing back around, scan the wake left over from the interdiction, and chase them down into the normal space instance they're fighting in.

As far as the escort getting money, that can be taken care of if/when we can give money to other players. Missions are given to single pilots, not groups of pilots. Only one pilot gets the reward. How would the computer know how much effort the wingman put into it or when they joined or left? That's an issue best left up to the players to distribute the reward as they see fit.

True, but you don't need a wake scanner to do this, just lock onto the FSD wake and pilot towards it like you would any normal object. Once you get the alignment, distance and speed all in the blue, drop out of FSD and you'll land at the same spot. (Although I'm willing to admit I may be wrong, I've never done this on an interdiction but I've definitely done it when me and a friend have been cooperating on finding an assassination target at a USS that only one of us could see).

I'll have to try that on Pigpen's idea.

If it doesn't work, then a piece of equipment something like an Escort Tether could be quite handy, to tether together a flight of ships.

I think this begs a much better question. How do the formations of escorting NPCs we see operate? They clearly arrive at the same time. I don't really care whether it's players or NPCs, but I feel like I should be able to hire similar escorts somehow.

That's a good idea, tying everyone's FSD together (using the slowest ship of course). After all, when you drop on a USS you often get multiple ships. Perhaps any PC vs NPC/PC sublight encounters could also appear as USS's to anyone passing by.

Oh snap!

I learned something today. :) Thanks!

I believe this is a sub-topic of the whole group support affair. We 'need' some way to form a group and link those ships. Afaik they rejected automatically linking ships. -.-
But hey, perhaps with the OP's idea with an additional module.... let's just keep nagging. ^.^

I like the idea of grouping our ships together so we can bounty hunt together and take down bigger ships that would be harder by ourselves. Also think that if we could group together then the bounty should then be shared between the grouped ships.

This is coming early 2015 with the Wing patch.
