Yes it does pay well. You should be able to find better commodities to trade though, not a dig at you just a suggestion. I have a route that is two jumps, making 700k one way, 600k back.
Side note: If you want to get out of the station faster and into FSD, when you release from the pad, log out and back in. It will leave you 10km away and not mass locked. It breaks the immersion yes, but saves minutes and no threat from damage leaving the station. I started doing this when I flew out and a wanted ship was in my path. I got caught in the stations crossfire and lost my T9 and 7 MILLION in Imperial Slaves!!!
