Already some time ago I jumped into an USS to find two pirates engaging a single Cobra. The engaged NPC was named Gert. This is nothing special except for the strange name of the NPC (we all know they mainly have names consisting of more than one word) and the fact that my deceased dad who died of pancreatic cancer about one and a half years ago was named Gert. This is a little strange as the surname Gerd is in most cases written with a D because it originates from the name Gerhard. So, Gert with a T is relatively seldom compared to the other form(s). This could be just a coincidence but I know that one of the former colleagues of my father was an avid Elite player on the Amiga back in the days. I'm now wondering if this guy which I've no contact with to check back maybe is responsible for having the NPC named like that because as far as I know kickstarters could name one NPC by their own. Would this even fit into the given time frame?
Of course I saved him from the pirates and stayed on his side until he jumped away.
