Flying without insurance for added danger

So I fitted out my Anaconda for trading with a strong shield and some defences. I noticed that I didn't have the rebuy. I was like "well, it's a risk but risk is the spice of life! It's Elite Dangerous not Elite Relaxing Cakewalk!" Set out, get interdicted by an NPC wing. Blow them away but taken down to 70% hull. Think to myself "that was awesome, most exciting NPC encounter in ages." Set out, get interdicted AGAIN by a python and two vultures when my shields have barely come up. Decide to run, make it out with 33% hull. Suddenly think to myself "I am 33% hull away from losing 650+ hours of gameplay."

I made it to the station. The moral of the story is, always fly expensive ships without the rebuy, it will make your trade runs more exciting and you will probably make it.

;)

This is wonderfully timed considering the other fella's post about his Python :D

Glad you survived cmdr, is that the rebuy sorted now?

I was repositioning a Cutter to another base 3 weeks back, ship cost is just under 1.3 billion, used to having a good chunk of spare cash in my account but had recently bought a bunch of ships.

Departed for Brestling completely oblivious to only having 8 mill in my account, two jumps into the trip and realize my mistake. Let's just say the rest of the trip wasn't fun, I wouldn't' describe it anywhere near exciting, more a case of feeling like an idiot and praying that the game doesn't glitch me into a starbase on SC exit.

All the ships from my hauler to my pyhton were flown without insurance for the first few runs.
The Anaconda was the first ship where I had enough to cover the insurance too.
I'm not bragging, I'm impatient.

Do this all the time. Much more fun. As is starting over again in a Sidewinder. Don't get hung up on what I've earned & lost - it's just a game!

The game knows. I swear the AI knows. You leave and suddenly a Deadly Anaconda in a wing with two Dangerous Python escorts pull you out of supercruise; and then it's just endless rails blasting away followed by a slightly panicked CMDR attempting to high-wake for great justice and totally not panicking at all not even a little bit (nonono gogogogogogo omg come onnnnnnn FSD I have like 15% hull pls come onnnn).
