FNN - The Federation News Network: Bringing you the latest from the Pleiades Sector! Without the GalNet Imperial propaganda.
Federation Navy Withdraws From Maia!
As part of the measured joint drawdown in the military standoff with the Empire, the Federation withdrew Fleet assets from the Maia system in the Pleiades Sector. This measure is a clear signal to Imperials that the Federation is serious about reducing Cold War tensions between the two superpowers.
In October of last year, the Federation positioned a Farragut class battle cruiser above Maia A 3A, just a short distance from the research base of Professor Ishmael Palin. The GalNet called the deployment a 'blockade', despite the fact that access to the base was never restricted at all to anyone at any time. GalNet has often been criticized for parroting Imperial propaganda as fact, since the battle cruiser was clearly a preemptive move to prevent Imperials from outright seizing control of the research facility.
While the move was criticized by nearly everyone, one comment from Earth Defense Fleet Command stated "Federation forces filled a power vacuum in the region. The Empire is just mad that we beat them to it."
Professor Palin was pleased with the development, and had this to say:
“We may never know exactly why the Federation blockaded Maia A 3 a. Frankly the galaxy’s superpowers have always been rather incomprehensible to me. All I can say is: I’m glad they’re gone.”
Clearly, he's not as well read as his 'Professor' title implies. This is Xander Vekk of the FNN.
