Follow me, I may have something of interest for you...

Anyone else getting a new npc interaction since 1.3?

Had it twice last night, non-wanted npc of an allied faction interrupted me carrying out a haul mission for a different faction and then dropped out of SC. I couldn't be bothered to follow them as I wasn't up for a trap being sprung on my little Courier so left it alone.

One npc was persistent enough to hang around outside an outpost and challenge me again as I left "I know you are carrying Coltan, I can tell without a cargo scan..."

Peculiar, but adding a bit of flavour :)

I'm finding the missions to be a lot better in 1.3. In a USS last night I found a NPC T-9 being attacked by two NPC sideys and a FDL. I didn't go to help the T-9 as I was on a mission, but I'm wondering if I did, would the T-9 reward me with a bit of cargo after?

Don't look in their coat!!!!!

I was wondering about how they got puppies or boiled sweets up into space..." :p

I was also seeing Mission Targets for a Pirate kill in SC, so perhaps this is a way of getting more people (like me) to fit an Interdictor and go explore other facets of the game?

No one tried following one yet? I'm guessing you need a Wake Scanner to do that when they drop into normal space... who carries one of those these days?

Yea was a nice surprise - still wish it was easier to enter wake instances, but other than that a nice little flourish to the game.

You should see their low energy wake marker. Lock it and drop out of SC like any other destination.

Strangers have the best candy.

No you don't need a wake scanner, that's only for the high energy wakes. These are low energy wakes, just target them and drop out of SC at the usual time. I've followed them a few times on assassination missions. It's the same way it was previously, they will offer you a counter-mission that you can take it or leave it. Before, you used to have to find these agents in the USS, now they appear in SC and talk to you ahead of time. IT's a bit smoother and more organized but that's really the main difference.

They STILL have that annoying Type 9 floating around in USS. Why the hell would they bother to separate marriage/funeral barges and counter offers but keep this absolute waste of space, infuriating NPC in USS? WHY!?

Wake scanner is just for following ships into a different system. Going into/out of SC can be followed without a scanner. Just target it the wake.

Are you telling me you don't want a bunch of free tech cargo?

But yea, I'm not a pirate, so it's infuriating. Might kill one for funsies.

I get a lot of these. I like the idea of them, but I usually find that when I do decide to follow the messenger out of SC, they don't really give me much to go on. They don't tell you how much you'll be getting for one thing. AT least not in the delivery missions.

For example: I picked up a mission to ship gold (it was work about 20,000c or so I think), and upon entering the where the station I was delivering to I got a "I've been looking for you" followed by "Please follow me out of SC" (or words to that effect). So I did, and was met by an Eagle who told me that he can make me a counter off for the gold. However, he didn't tell me how much his counter offer was. I accepted anyway and flew to the station he said to go to, only to find out that my reward was 2,500c plus a fine for not delivering to the original station...

It needs work I think...

I can't slow my ship down enough to drop into wake signals, so I just gave up trying to follow them.
