Follow on missions?

I have never noticed these before in the mission page. What are these and are they new? What does the chain represent?

Follow on missions are new to 2.3 and they are a type of chained mission which follows on from a previous mission you have done for said faction.

For example, you donated 200,000cr and you get some flavour text thanking you for your donation, telling you what they've done with it and what consequence this has had, necessitating a further mission to deal with that consequence.

They're quite rare and only come in twos so far, but they're a pretty neat addition, and gives a bit more life to the factions.

Means it's a chained mission.
A mission influenced or triggerd by a previous mission you did.
Came with 2.3. Pretty unspectacular by now.

Chained missions are randomly chained missions (there is some vague logic behind them ...) but they are also persistent missions.

In layman's terms, they are a first step in having persistence in mission boards.

IIRC the first mission of a chain is like other missions (i.e. wiped after the 15 something minutes mission board refresh) but after you completed it, the "follow up" mission will be persistent for about a week. Meaning, for a few days, wherever you dock (and the faction giver is present), the mission will be available.

Not really a big deal, but a step in the right direction, if you ask me.
