Seriously though aside from the moby reference, this post is for guys like me who have been trying to unlock the new engineer but fell short on databank donations. After a lot of scanning every cargo ship I came across, in boom state systems exraction/industrial I couldn't for the life of me get a hold of any CSD's. This is when I scanned a beluga 'cruise ship' , managed to get 6 from a single scan after hours of searching haulage vessels.

So a little heads up to anyone searching for CSD's (follow the white whale) ... Im off to investigate some tourism boom systems and hopefully run into a full pod happy hunting commanders.

Edit2 ... Visitor Beacons in tourist destinations are a good source for scanning orcas and beluga.

Edit 3 .. Wuthawchu I think has a visitor beacon

will do , thx for the info ... got another 8 scans to complete so ill take a looksee as ive only seen 1 beluga and an orca within an hour of searching tourism systems.

Your best bet is to find a visitor beacon in a tourist destination , I was lucky enough to find one while searching for a good place to find beluga. I would low wake in and out of the visitor beacon and this would reset the instance and I would have either 3 orcas, 3 beluga or a beluga , orca and a hauler taxi. Repeatedly jumping in and out and I quickly got the numbers of classified scan databanks I needed. Sorry I don't actually remember the system but I think it was something like wuthawchu and the beacon was to mark the location of a race crash which happened at some point , sometimes the instance will have wreckage and some basic materials while other times it will just have the tourist ships flying around.


edit although I should add that in between getting the CSD's from the passenger liners I did manage to get a couple from T9's and Type 7's. so they are worth a check too but I think they are a much lower success rate than the liners.
