Follow-up question: What weapons for pirate ship? Cobra Mk III.

Ideally I'd like turrets on the smalls, so my Caravel can benefit from multi-crew. I was thinking of beams there?

As for the mediums... At least one cannon, fixed, seems appropriate? But what should go in the other medium? Another cannon, or something else?

FYI I'll be specifically targeting small-medium trade ships only. Haulers, Adders, Cobras, Type-6/7. Other targets are out of my league.

Thoughts guys?

Unless they really buff turrets you might as well tell your mate to get out and slap the other ship with a wet fish it might do more damage.

Turrets on a Cobra mk3 just sounds wrong...even though I know why you are doing it. sort of shows how great....no no I'll stop before this becomes a MC issue thread.

Dont use many myself but some sort of missile?

I have gimballed pulse lasers and a plasma weapon on my Cobra mk III. The plasma weapon takes a while to recharge (so it should probably be engineered) but it makes a nice splash of color.
 
I've never had an interest in piracy - actually, I did while I was downloading the game and then I came here while I waited, and found out more about it, and that sort of ended that for me, but I'd think it worth the time and effort to do some Powerplaying for the Rocket-Propelled Frame Shift Disruptor.

You know, that weapon never occurred to me.
 
Last time I took out the Cobra, I used dual medium railguns with small gimbaled pulse lasers. It was pretty effective and I was able to rob larger trading ships.

Since cannons got a buff and are effective vs. modules, you might try to mix them in to take out drives on runners.
 
My load out is one large fragment cannon (incendiary), one small fragment cannon (dazzle shell), packhounds and one small mine launcher (reverberating cascade). The fragment cannons will strip shields with ease. I also have mil grade armor and 3 HRPs with lvl 5 heavy duty upgrade. Clean drives and low emission pp. no shields as it is a silent build.
