"For now the focus is very much on the Windows PC release. Only once the initial game is done will we start to look at other platforms."

(... said David Braben when collecting money two years ago for the PC Elite Dangerous game he has yet to deliver: https://archive.is/4WV34#selection-1521.0-1521.194 )

Discuss.

I fail to see why people are suprised by decisions made by the heads of companies that involve money.

If no one has been paying attention for the last 200 or so years; these people are not honest.
None of them.
Then everytime they get caught out (as in the above) they make some excuse that get universally swallowed and get back on with the business of lying and making money again.

I hate to say this to the OP but this, Sir, is not news.

The initial game is done it's up and running, but it's not yet fully feature complete and every patch is an improvement. It's also in a much better state than most of the AAA drivel foisted on us in recent years (and has been since pre-release).

IMO there's no broken promise if they start work on console versions, more money for FD the game gets better. Everyone's a winner

This won't stop the flame though, cue people searching for single sentences out of context that "prove" FD have "robbed" them with "broken promises".

Popcorn required.

Then there is the fact that the Xbox platform is and has always been a PC based Microsoft product unlike Sony's Playstation. I find it not very surprising that they would port the game over to it rather quickly. I'd imagine there would be very little to do to make it work, AND it would ensure an additional revenue stream which in turn could be used to fund more development.

PC ******release******

Right. It's released. It hasn't been smooth sailing at all times, but we have a fun game that we spend far too many hours playing as often as we can. I have 0 problems with them trying to grow their market at this stage, and since they picked a glorified windows machine to expand into anyway, the Xbox one version shouldn't even be a major distraction.

I wonder if they'll involve the beta testers? I'm personally holding out for a PS4 version, and then only if they'll join PC sessions so my son can join me.

Hey, who's excited about the new steam Streaming device? If I can plug in my joystick and keyboard it'll be SO much easier to play Elite on the big living room tv!

For anyone needing a reminder of what was the initial game for which Mr Braben took £15m of players' money:

Ah, so what you really want to do is discuss at what point the game should have been released rather than the point at which it was actually released.

Why didn't you say so? It would have saved a lot of trouble and the mods could have decided to close/merge the thread just that little bit earlier. ;)
