I tried that, it doesn't work, the filter ignores spaces and special characters in many situations.

Censorship. One companies ideas of morality forced upon the multitude. I reject it, as a Brit. We use profanities, expletives and cursing in our everyday lives with wild abandon. Often creatively and with humour. For FD to be a Brit company forcing its own interpretation of censorship is frankly appalling. Mr Braben should ask his kids what words they know or knew at such young age and subsequently wonder what the point of it all is. Its Orwellian in its approach and inept in its implementation.

If one cannot freely exress oneself using ones own language, as one might do so in a free and civilised world, then abandon all hope. For the words of the proles are censored. Up yours Braben, or words to that effect.

Suspect it's far less to do with word police than a guard against litigation and adhering to the PEGI rating.

You can do that with a password protected toggle.

Give us an option to turn off the filter or, again at the very least, implement a chat filter that won't censor something completely innocent.

You got that backwards. The toggle is the very least they should do. A better filter is secondary to that. Even with the best filter in the world, powered by a superhuman AI that perfectly understands context and meaning, I'd still rather opt to chat not being censored.

This was brought up as soon as beta 1 hit, and what have they done about it? Nothing. Traditional FDev apathy. They haven’t even acknowledged our complaints.

Part of me hopes this issue spirals into a huge drama just so they’ll learn to listen from time to time. We want a toggle. End of story.

The fact that "circumstance", for example, is censored as "cir***stance" is ridiculous.

Crap. My Corvette is called GSV Normal Circumstances.[where is it]

Until now it did not even cross my mind that "circumstance" contains the word <error, all synonyms are banned>.
