For those looking at joining in DWE II

Sure was a lot of traffic there at ol' BP...

I think I was with Zulu Romeo there, but I'm not sure... Or was it Zeeman?

I'm making my own way to Beagle Point now...the space madness has set in a few times and I have had to take my finger off the self-destruct button a few times...it's lonely out here...so close, yet so far. I must keep pushing, and then...the return trip lol.

Heh, I'm on my way there now too. So you're note entirely alone. :) I haven't gotten far yet, having just set out last night, but at the rate I'm going, it might be a week or two to get there.

We should remember to send postcards. If we can find a mail box. :)

I have to say I got pretty lucky on the way back... I watched all the green icons vanishing over the horizon (so to speak), and hung around for a while... Only for:

Jacques threaten to turn up
and not
A rock rat rescue in the Abyss (gawd that was fun)
and Jacques rocking up at what is now Colonia when I was actually on the right side of the Galaxy (and subsequently finding the start / end of the neutron highway to him)

Kind of made the whole 80,000LY jaunt a very merry one :D (rough pythagorus calculation)

I always said I would never do a DWE2, but I actually miss the fun I had so I will eat a lot of humble pie as I have signed up for DWE2. The pure madness of it, playing dead ants in SRV's, and querying why humans when they land on a planet with other humans form a circle, speaking to colleagues who face planted at around 40,000Ly out, and then spent all their free time to get back to the fleet suggested to me how important it was.

What will make me go back is the pure loneliness, the blackness and solitude, the Hi! when you see another commander in the void, knowing that he is not about to try and blow your brains out, and the lovely weird places that Erimus and gang managed to find, that green place was just downright spooky.

So for those who are thinking about doing DWE2 and have some qualms, then just do it, and then you will look back and realise how much fun it actually was.
