For those looking to go oculus rift VR for ED, now is a good time!.

The vive tracking area is superior to the rift however with the current prices a 4 camera rift setup is still cheaper than the vive. So unless you have a really big room (bigger than say 4.5m x 4.5m) they should track similarly with 3/4 cameras.

Absolutely, but I have the vive already.
And I'm just mostly being difficult.

And I'm running out of usb's already.
I even have anot expansion board but the cameras throws an error in home if I plug them into it.
Although the hmd itself runs fine on it.

And I also think oculus could have given me a 12' cable on the second camera ;)
Would have eased it for a lot of users I'm sure.

But absolutely, the rift and it's current price is absolutely great value.

to be fair i would say 90% (plucked out of my behind) of users would find 3 cameras more than enough for their needs!. Totally agree with TorTorden however that the vive tracking IS a "nicer" solution, its a pain having to balance the load over USB etc and cables all over the place.

for very large area VR the vive is simply the better choice imo and is certainly tidier... but that said, i only have a 3m x 2.5m area and as such I challenge anyone to argue my tracking with 3 cameras is inferior to vive.

I wonder how many of the "2 camera" full room 360 degree setups which have issues are down to constellation not being quite as good as light house, vs simply being because the oculus touch, whilst erganomically superior, and much smaller and more comfortable is just basically harder to track/easier to occlude than having 2 giant spoons in your hand ;)

Dunno.
What I do know is I punch the ceiling with both...

I only don't see the need to teleport if some games use other methods like hand grappling. I just wonder why there's no use of walking via the touch joystick. I'm not gonna get any of this daft teleport stuff. Also it should be possible for games to introduce real surround video by now then create life-like objects within them to interact with. I think they need me huh!

I'm not a big fan of this teleport nonsense either, but Robo Recall does a most excellent job with it. There's nothing more fun than teleporting behind a robot, grabbing its neck, and then chucking it at another robot. It's a great game to bundle with the Touch as it's an exciting fast-paced game that also keep the colly-wobbles of those new to VR to a minimum.

The only reason I'm not playing it at the moment is that another game has seemed to have gotten it's hooks into me for some reason I just can't fathom. I think it's because the way Minecraft has integrated touch control is just so intuitive. I only meant to play the demo but I ended up buying it.
