If you are lucky to play ED in PC then you absolutely must install G-19 applet made by the excellent programmer MagicMau and the EDDi app made by the most dedicated team (i think that there are many people involved) These two applications with additional text to speech voices give life to this allready amazing game.You must try it.I can't rep and thank enough all the people behind those apps for their efforts.They completely changed how i enjoy the game.Kudos to them!(y)

Cereproc cloud cannot be used anymore without reprogramming, but you can still here NPC Voice Chatting with all mp3 already registered.

Didn't test the program in game yet though.

Too bad the author didn't release the source code so someone else continue the project.

As someone managed to make it work ?

It found the sentence, wich is quite comon "Another dud? Damn it all!" on Lauren, but tries to download it via cache folder, instead of using Download folder to play the sound.

So it's trying to download the mp3 sound from Cereproc Cloud, and create a Pirate_OnNoCargoFound04--0x77228E062842E4F8.txt file in cache folder for Lauren, when the similar file already exist in Download folder.

For people who doesn't know, Cache folder is used to store audio file downloaded from Cereproc Cloud. Download folder is used to play audio file that have already been download from Cereproc Cloud to avoid downloading them again and costing credits.

As Cereproc Cloud changed their API and the program author didn't update his software, TTS4ED is unable to connect to the server to get audio file. Plus you need an account there and a login/password in order to work. There is 10 000 credits per month free.

I still run this and as far as I know it's working, but I spend more time exploring than I do in the bubble so it's not often I engage with NPCs to hear their chatter. There seemed to be a reasonable amount of ambient chat the last couple of times I was docked.

I wasn't aware of any changes to the API but it's such an old program it wouldn't surprise me. The status bar and test feature report my account as having 10,000 credits remaining which does seem a bit odd given that I'm sure it was down in the 9,000 range at one point. Yeah, I'd forgotten they refresh. So yeah, I'd not be shocked if it's broken (but the credit count has nothing to do with it).

The previously used voices seem to work though. I've got 250MB of them in my downloaded folder. I could shove them on Google Drive if you think they'd be useful.

That would be really usefull.

Can you check what version you are using ? Could you upload the whole program you have with the sound downloaded ? Thanks !

From my test, the version i have v2.1.1.0 is bugued. I described all the problem in this hread.

Mine's the same version so I don't know how much use it will be, but I've zipped the whole structure -- with some stuff redacted! -- and sent you the link in a PM. Aside from various updates over the life of the program this installation was pretty much untouched, so it'll be a combination of whatever data I downloaded during the original setup and whatever files were created on demand as I played the game.
