For those that do not increase life support here's a pic for you.

I disagree strongly. I've had my canopy blown countless times and still made it out alive with only a few % of hull integrity left. Learn how to make a runner strategic retreat effectively ;)

Plus, believe me, you don't want to get back to somewhere. You want to get back to a station rather than an outpost. Having 20 secs of oxygen flow left and finding out there are no free landing pads on an outpost can be extremely stressful :)

Fair enough, I guess you're doing a lot more combat than I. I sound a bit more risk-averse than yourself. When my hull gets below 50% I'm contemplating a return trip to repair. To run your ship to the final few % on hull with a shot canopy... well, each to their own, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one ;)

I always go for the D life support, mainly because it is cheap and gives the weight advantage so speed and FTL range.

Always have your escape route planned, ideal location is a jump away with a station within 100LS of the largest start. We are a bit off the beaten track so I see Outposts as an acceptable risk even in a Python, definitely in a Vulture. The industrial and commercial bases have plenty of small bays for a Vulture.

I have not needed to, but if I got to an Outpost and their was no bays free, has anyone tried back to main menu choose solo - and what happens to the timer?

It's easy to jump to another system, as HJ is not affected by mass lock of the other ships and it charges much faster than the SC drive.

While I agree it is a wise decision to upgrade the life support, in my experience my canopy is not destroyed often enough to justify the need to adapt my loadout according to the A grade life support module.

And when it broke, I made it with plenty of time left on my D grade life support. Once I even high-jumped twice to get to a system with a station close to the entry-point.
