For those who say that space legs are pointless...

The problem is we will never get space legs like this. It'll be a very simple, minimally viable version, where you get to walk around and experience what's there already. No shooty shooty or actual FPS mechanics.

Normally I would agree I'd like to see spacelegs for ED within the next five years of the current ten year planning. (With FD's own unique grounded way of doing fpv preferably, over its unprecedented scope not SC's few cryengine levels masquerading as planets of 1.5 star systems.)

but making a comparison to SC which seems to stealth-potshot imply(another thread again) that somehow FD has been deficient compared to CIG? lol
I think this yt comment put it well about the OP show clip:

and other games have already been there done that for a flashy fiesta with a planet and ship background multiple times over (and better) within the last five years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ7uddJvDJA , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfkK51dYUbI

Please forgive me. This is a clip of a streamer playing Star Citi*****. It is a beautifully wicked example of what space legs could be.

Then you should play SC if it will ever be finished. Or some other shooter.

I would love space legs in ED. But not necesserily with shooting. Just being able to walk around my own ship would be fine. Spacewalking around it on a leash, some space station MP rooms, things like that.
We have enough griefers as it is, bringing in FPS people into the ED would be disastrous in my opinion.

I used to play national tournament FPS, Battlefield series in fact, and I can only say that was the worst example of an FPS in action I have ever seen and I hope ED takes note and avoids the mistake of trying to turn ED into a multiplayer FPS. Space legs could be great, but if the only reason for space legs was to play as an FPS it would be a misuse of the genre, there are many far better ones around and I suggest as other have that if you want that go and play a proper dedicated FPS.

Oh my, you're right! I was on the fence but that clip conviced me.

I would derive soooooo much pleasure from emptying a full ammo clip inside that trooper wannabe character, right from the start.

I would prefer that the devs would handcraft missions and improve overall game play cohesion so that doing things in ED will have greater effect on the BGS or its ongoing lore and current affairs.

Before space legs their team still needs to improve the current game to attract more fans. Most complain about not knowing what to do and that it all looks the same, but that is mostly newbies, and unfortunately,it takes a little more gaming time to appreciate the game.

For now, base assaults still seems to have been neglected. Its like an alpha development game that could have extra potential for more fun and involved gaming concepts.

Mission to reward ratio still feels out and unrealistic. I would prefer to see less missions on the board but the caveat being that less missions mean more significant impact and logic on BGS or rep.

Some minor bugs still need work. FSD bugs for example.

Space legs may just end up being another FPS and there is no shortage of those games. Running around and shooting other CMDRS!! Not really something that Frontier should bother with as there is enough FPS games on the market.

If only ED could merge with Empyrion, which is a first person style space crafting and survival alpha game, then space legs game play in ED would be awesome. You can then build space-craft and bases, mine planets and other things. It would even take care of atmospheric planets but unfortunately, both games run on different engines so it would most likely never happen.

HOTAS users will also need to use the mouse as well if space legs become a thing in ED.

I just want to walk around inside my ship..... but our ships do not have gravity. So if it amounts to only being able to walk around a station or on a planet but not inside the ship itself I could just play NMS for that (and I don't even like NMS). Unless we are getting some zero-G floating around inside our ships after unstrapping from the pilot seat so we can explore the full interior of all the cool ships I don't even want it.

I imagine the FD version of this would be that everybody piles into the bunker, kills the bunker occupants and when its time to leave the doors wont open.
Immediately following, there would be a bug report thread of several pages, followed by a fix approximately 6 months later, that got reversed in the next patch and ignored by FD for the remainder of the game.
Meanwhile, cosmetic sales would skyrocket.

Personally, i dont care about space legs, i want existing bugs fixed.

What a brilliant way to convince me to NOT want spacelegs even more. That looked like horrid gameplay to me. Zero interest.

If you want a FPS, go play an FPS. There's gazillions of them out there, and there's no way FDev could add an FPS element to E|D which would come close to the AAA FPSs already on the market. So who in their right minds would play a AA FPS grafted onto another game if that's what they're really into?

That YouTube guy is the most irritating dbag ever, he shouts commands and sits back while everyone else takes the heat.

If I were in that game I would mute him for sure.

Those sort of players is what friendly fire is for! A few friendly fire instances and they either start to understand they are the problem or they leave, either way is good.

Oh and it seems we have a consensus of sorts, 1 for, a gazillion and 32 against!

Somehow I don't think the OP got the support he was looking for ….

Honestly, if I wanted a space FPS with a bit of flying I would be playing COD: Infinity Warfare!

In the names of all that is holy, I hope not.
This is nothing but common first-person-shooter COD play.
Rubbish, buried under garbage.

This is quite a bit closer to what I'd hope to see, even this is vastly more than I expect, but it's infinitely better than that.
