For those who think the game is easy

Please do be so kind and make tutorials with detailed instructions (where, when, how and with what) you made a lot of money in short period of time, for us mere mortals who are not so lucky in this universe.

Because I do read a lot of miracle stories, where someone says that he does millions of credits in one hour. Without detailed explanation I asses those stories as an act of boasting. ;)

Rares such as Lavian Brandy was used, just go as far as possible, 100+ Ly to get most profit. However, it has been changed since Gamma with smaller personal allotments which don't refill as fast.

You still can make close to 2 mil in several hours. Start from Lave as it has a lot of rare wares in vicinity. Use http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ to find the nearest one. Repeat until your cargo hold is full. Pick a point at least 140ly from where you picked up the last rarity and go there to sell everything you got. With 100 units of cargo you should get close to 2 mil. As far as I can see, the only thing changed is that they don't respawn if you have some in your cargo, although I think I got 1 tonne of Camitra Cigars spawned after buying 2, but it is unreliable at best meaning you need to fly around.

they actually don't refill until you sell your allotment.

I am making 135c per ton of cargo space per minute in my current route...

In my last route I used to make 60c per ton of cargo space per minute. Doing this round trip in the Eravate system:
Russel station - buy marine equipment, sell tobacco
Ackerman - buy tobacco, sell marine equipment

We do milions in hour, but not over "short period of time". We just play a lot, searching for opportunities and we worked hard for tools that allow us to use those.

Trading is the best way to make money and you can earn a lot relatively quickly. Even at start, Hauler can get you a 250k profit, transporting rares. Now, if you want to hear: go to this system, buy this commodity and so on, you will not get that from me. If youre too lazy to figure it by yourself by reading hundreds of topics about this, then you just dont deserve to earn. Period.

So, a Hauler can get you a Type 6 in no time. This ship can haul as much as 112 tons of cargo. Most common routes (as get Consumer Tech from High Tech system to high population agricultural system, earn 800 credits per ton, get tobacco back, earn 600 credits) will give you over 150k each round trip. And its quite possible to get routes that give you twice that much.

Having a Type 6 makes it possible to earn other ships relatively quickly. I got full A grade Eagle, full A grade Type 6 and almost A grade ASP.

I use the eagle for fun, not making money. The ASP is fitted with Advanced Discovery Scanner and Detailed Surface Scanner- i used to use it for mining, but i find it boring. So now i use ASP to fly around an area i like, gather the trading info (visiting stations, taking notes about the commodity prices), doing missions for reputation and fun, and exploring the systems unknown to me (best exploration profit so far: 128,000 credits).
Now i know all the systems in 30 ly around the place i have chosen for a home. I know where to transport a cheap commodity to the place they need it most. I fly around in an ASP, doing missions and exploring, while still having 72 cargo space. I get a mission for system next door- i see that i can earn 500 credits hauling Silver there- i earn 36.000 just by the way. Also, i like to hang in the Anarchy systems Nav Beacons in the ASP- last time i got over 800.000 in bounties and gathered cargo for another 250.000.

Now, that makes me feel pretty safe and allows me to set other goals than making money: currently we are planning to create an Empire Aid convoy, which will transport weapons, medicines and slaves (to annoy Federation peasants) as a gift to brave Lugh Crimson State rebels.

Oh, and about cashing an opportunity: yesterday the trade fixing attempt caused an "Imperial Slaves glitch", which caused the Imperial Slaves price to rise even up to 16.000 credits. It dropped down after you sold any Slaves at the price, but most of the stations with IS demand had it. So, the trick was to buy those at 11.000 credits and go find stations with the huge price. I made 8 milions yesterday.

So, the way to go is to work for the freedom. You cant expect someone to take your hand and lead you to profit, you have to find your own way. But its really easy, just needs some time and involvement. Believe me, it is fun and rush of blood, when you find a five stations trade route, when every jump gives you above average profit. You just need work for that...

The fact that trading is so much more profitable than any other way of making money in this game sucks for those of us that don't want to play a space trucker sim. It quite candidly sucks badly, in fact.

To answer the OP, there's three feasible ways of making money -- trading, bounty hunting, and mining. Depending on how lucky you are, you can make up to a million credits or more per ~1 - 2 hours bounty hunting if you're prioritizing targets properly in resource extraction sites and such, although finding the right spot is crucial (you can't expect to earn much by plinking Cartel-affiliated Sidewinders in LHS 3447, for instance - you'll have to find an area where plenty of pirate Cobras are spawning). Trading is probably more profitable if you really get into it, but that's already been covered. I've heard success stories with mining, but you'd have to find high-yield areas off the beaten path to have any feasible chance of gaining more profit per hour than bounty hunting or trading.

You ever think. It depends on what each person dose. There times where I made 600k per trade run. Or be in combat with a ship that worth 100k credits 5 or 6 ships. I end up with about the same amount as a trade run. Exploration Mixed with Smuggling I tend to make around 1 million.

Errr---- Not wanting to subject oneself to hours of tedium, all for the sake of having fun in a game, makes him lazy? Gosh, you must be fun at parties.

@OP I'm not big on trading, but go to Leesti and check it's surrounding systems. There are at least two systems located directly beside it that sell rare commodities.

There are actually five under 10ly and Leesti sells two types of them. This is the place to start your run on rare wares. You can have 40+ tonnes in your cargo hold when you are finished with this area.

Not all of them and there are opportunities out there, just that most will keep trade routes a secret in fear of it drying up.

The obvious solution here is to figure out his brilliant trade route, show up better armed and rob him blind :D
