Forced to Solo !!

And probably not for the reasons that some might think ...

the problem I am having .. and it is a growing concern .. is that with every update I have to turn my graphic's settings down.

I have made the leap to OPEN play from the Mobius group and I am enjoying it (I guess if I was in a sidewinder that may be different) but it seems every time there is an update I have to change my graphics settings, I have one of the highest broadband services in the UK, so it's not that.

I used to play on 'Ultra' at a steady 60fps (my TV/Monitor forces that) and that was fine but now I am getting 16fps in stations 40Fps odd in RES sites .. and the game is progressively becoming unplayable.

Are things being added that are messing with the performance of the game (1.2 was the start of the low performance for me) .. is anyone else getting this?

*edit* the reason I was forced to Solo is there seems to be better frame rates there ...but not by much

I must admit I did also notice with the very last update a slight drop in framerate being in stations. Hopefully this won't be a continuing trend.

Noticed this too. Stations, asteroids, planets - proximity causes a stutter once every while, for a second or so, dipping to 10-40 fps. Haven't messed with graphics yet as I enjoy the looks on highest settings above all, but it is concerning, yes.

SLI titans plugged into 1440p 27 inch monitor, i7 4930k, 100 MB connection.

Framerate bogs on me in Open Play in Supercruise in high (player) populated systems (40 down from 90). And this is with an i5-4670k.

Although I was playing on Ultra with no framerate loss (Except for the stuttering around certain planets which is a different issue) even with the massive drop in processor that I had to take (4ghz 8 core to 2.6 quad core).. since 1.2, I have had a severe drop in performance with this game with each update .. I am running Alien Isolation and Dying Light at max detail, as smooth as you like. the optimization seems to be going backwards.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed recent performance drops. My laptop used to get a manageable 25-30 fps with everything maxed; now it drags its feet there so I've had to dial it back.

On a side note I'm glad to see some originality in an "I'm going to solo!" thread. ;)

I am also forced to go Solo sometimes just to not have to deal with constant "Lulz failed to connect to matchmaking!" disconnects.
Until i noticed it still kept happening in Solo mode.... Failed to connect to matchmaking, in SOLO..
On the verge of giving up, frankly.
Love the game to death, but god damn Amazons server clusters are unrealiable pieces of trash. It is like complete and utter dumb LUCK if you manage to get 1 of the servers that actually work properly when you boot up the game. 3 times out of 5 i get a server chosen that simply refuses to connect or has nonstop disconnects (i checked, its the same ip's).
There are like 2 server ip's that work great, but since the game REFUSES to let the player choose which server to connect to, it makes no difference.

there is no question that the optimization has dropped since 1.2 .. i just hope that it is to do with all the telemetry that has been added and not a permanent feature otherwise 1.3 could spell the end of my E: D adventure until I re-buy my old processor (if that even helps)

Slowly dropping performance has been steady since release day (the day I started playing). Always tied directly tied to the number of ships in the systems (not necessarily PCs), and has nothing to do with what your graphics card has to render on-screen.

It is well known fact that 'power' in 'powerplay' is referring to GPU and CPU power draw. It's going to go further up in the next release...

I noticed the same, kind of. Mine stutter/halting happens whenever I'm jumping, dropping.

I wonder if it isn't an instancing issue....

I started a thread on yesterday to try to get a definitive answer on instancing. Have a look at that thread.

Do you run the game from SSD ? I didn't notice any drop, just the stutter when on approach to the station in SC sometimes. And my rig is modest by today's standards: I7 2600k clocked at 4,2 GHz and two GTX 660ti in SLI. Playing in 2560x1440 all maxed out.

Using an MSI GTX760 (2Gb)

Using MSI Afterburner to monitor my GPU. Every time i enter a starport instance, it starts running the GPU at max (base clock/core clock) with no let up until I undock and enter SC. Temps start to climb quite rapidly in the card when that happens (they peak and hold around 70C, 80C is the temp limit). I have found that by entering the galaxy map it reduces the load on the GPU. Even minimisng the client (I run windowed borderless) doesn't let up the load. Nor does entering the hangar.

I'm thinking of playing around with the draw distance in game to see if that will reduce the load in these instances as it might be caused by NPC/PC rendering. I'll also play with shadows and reflections as these could be a massive load on GPU resources too.

These instances also seem to throw extra load on my CPU too, but it's not too bad.

Tried turning model draw distance down just slightly? it seems to sometimes be twitchy at max in open, due to more players? maybe?

If networking with players is taking up processing power then being in open with more players would make a difference overall.

I would guess that a single player with a pants internet connection would make more difference than several players with a good connection.

I've not noticed a downturn in performance after recent updates in open (but I don't play in solo so I have nothing to compare it with).
