Okay, I followed up on the many great tips I got regarding my new Vulture and equipped it as good as funds allowed.

CMDR DarkxXPhoenixXx recommended me to go to LHS 215 since there's a high tech station and some Haz Res sites that I could try out. I was only a couple jumps away from that system so I went there to try my new gun :)
I first tried a Low intensity HiRes site there and found only a couple wanted Eagles and Vipers, they were taken care off easily and the bounties were not that high, around 75k in total.

I went back to the station for filling up my chaff etc. and headed off to the nearest HazRes site.
At first it was a bit quiet with just a couple wanted Eagles and the odd DBE, then two blibs on my radar came closing in.....

A wing of two ships, a Fer de Lance and an Anaconda, one master the other expert, I felt all kinds of colors comming down my pants and thought about the rebuy price of my Vulture.
I could try to run but sitting in a planet's ring mass locked I knew I couldn't just fsd out of there so I just came to peace with myself knowing that I had to rebuy my ship in a couple minutes, but that I wouldn't go down without a fight.

I still don't know how I did it but I came home with only 4 chaffs used hull down to 85% and a bounty to cash in worth 750k!!!
Plus I got my first Fer de Lance and Anaconda on my name!!!
The battle lasted only a couple minutes but it felt like an hour, I kept cruising around a bit longer and got some smaller ships before returning to the station but man this ship rocks seriously!!!!! :)

I can't even imagine what potential it gets when I got it fully upgraded.

Thanks goes to all who helped me get this succes either by pointing me out what equipment to use or otherwise.

Congrats! Sounds like you did really well on your first foray.

Oh I won't, I know I still have a lot to learn in combat and I still get shivers down my spine when I enter the Haz Res site wondering what's waiting there.
I still need to build up quite some confidence before I get cocky :)

I know the feeling. I got the Imperial Clipper yesterday, spent some time flying around looking for parts to upgrade it. Got it mostly to A, with a couple . I'm on the lookout for upgrades, as I do missions.

Having the right ship for combat is 90% of the success rate. Skill comes in too, but in my cast the ship does the work. Went out and grabbed about 200K in bounties. Then I made a big mistake, killed the wrong NPC, now there's a bounty on me. I'll have to lay low for awhile. Fun, fun, fun!

Just came back from another run in the HazRes area, limping home on life support, ship down to 35%.
A python is a tough nut to crack but the bounty made up for the damage and some to spare :)
Got to pick my targets more carefully next time!!
How could I have known this asp had a bigger brother when I don't pay attention and overlook that he was in a wing......

This ship has the tendency to make you think you're invincible because of how easy it is to take down the smaller ships.
I love it though :)
