Forgot the scope of Fairytale and Pirate... wow.

Legitimately forgot the range of items in the fairytale and pirate themes until I just randomly started scrolling through the pieces. All the witches stuff, jester stuff, crazy amount of castle pieces, dragon animatronics, all the quirky pirate animations like the barrel drop, all the cool fountain pieces and random lights... Genuinely excited to redo sections of my parks, and very excited to see what some of the community does.

To be honest, I think it brings back some of the magic of the first game. Pirate was one of the very first themes we had in the earliest betas of PC1, so it definitely has a nostalgic factor. But, the whimsy of the pirate band, and the goofy sleepy knight on guard... don't get me wrong, I love the incredible assets from the Viking set and other realistic enhancements of PC2 assets, but just having this bit of the old magic back I think rounds the game out way more than I expected.

But it is still not at the level of PC1 yet like just before the Ghostbusters pack was released in 2019. How about the Adventure pack and the jungle boat on a rail that you place in water? Ability to have one station on transport rides for round trip rides like PC1? Horror theming which was leaked through a deleted tag on Steam DB, maybe it's coming this fall, Studios pack and the open sided bus trams that can have a train of cars, the Centrum, classic Scrambler, Paratrooper, Whip, the crane games from the Vintage pack, the International pack with the Asian pieces and such, the Armada boat ride, Power Moves, the open ski lifts, the Venetian carousel, I could go on and on with what is still missing. And I want to see new flat rides, tracked rides, etc. in future DLC packs as well. I'd like to see some RCT3 rides get the PC2 treatment. We got the spiral slide in the classic pack and the flying carpet type ride so far. There was no upright platform flying carpet type ride in PC1.

I notice the feedback on these returning themes has been very positive so far as far as I have seen. I wouldn't be surprised if they continue a bit and also bring the Studios and Adventure pack into Planet Coaster 2.

I think this update overall has been very well recieved.

The player count is over 3k right now (PC). Thats more than double what it has been for months.

speaking of scope :)

The animatronics are this times scaled correctly ;)

I'm hoping the remaining PC1 themes (even if they were DLC) are sprinkled in as freebies alongside new content. Kind of like how they've always done releases in both PC1 and PZ, where you get a nice shiny new DLC packed with new features and goodies, and they also serve up a free update with some content.

I'm excited to see what their original plans were for the new game base, maybe see some of the stuff we saw peeking through some of the early releases but that never made it. I'm still convinced there is a bigger plan for stations, but they ran out of time and pasted the old style over the new framework. Part of why I think separate load and unload came along so quickly, the foundations were already there.

I expect new water park mechanics are in the pipeline, splash pads and other related features. I kinda feel like this was the hump we needed to get over to move into net new territory and the dev team can return to everything they shelved to appease the board and getting the game out early and then got stuck with fixing all the issues that came from that decision.

I see a lot of complaining and direct attacks on the dev team / planco team. They can only do as much as the powers that be let them, and I'm hoping the powers that be realize their mistake in rushing the game. Some of these devs and team have been with us since the early days of PC1 Alpha. I don't doubt their dedication and drive, and I know they have the creativity in them. I'm really hoping their shackles come off now, and we can see them shine.

I love the pirate theme and I hope we eventually get a DLC for it with PC2's take on the scenery. You can never have too many pirate scenery pieces.

We really need a horror theme which I think is coming, the horror tag was leaked on SteamDB then removed, there is activity going on there which means that some of the devs are working on a DLC or something for future release. We need the other vintage rides from PC1 back that were in the Vintage DLC like the Centrum, Paratrooper, Swift Drifters (whip), the vintage Scrambler, the Swift Eagles, etc. as well as the Tri-Storm (troika), and the sports cars that could go on the central rail track of the Antique Cars. As well as new flat and tracked rides.

I do think we miss some things on the fairytale theme, main thing i noticed was the castle wall parapet. we do have the half arch ones, but i thought we had sloped ones as well in planco 1.

am i correct?

Yeah, that is the theme (pun intended) of all these new theme releases. They all missing pieces. I don't know if there is one set of any theme, walls, roofs etc., that is complete. Some are very obvious like gable walls to match with roof pieces. You always seems to want to use the one piece that is missing in every build... It is sloppy.

Uhm, but most of the times it is not the new things that are missing pieces, but the old ones, I am just wild guessing here, but i guess most of the things are just automated 1:1 things. I can rely a lot of empathy there, simply if i was tasked to convert over 1.000 to 1.500 assets: My first thought would be: How can i automate this step.

I guess it is matter what you want: 1.500 in 6 months or one theme in six months. you can't have both.

Well, to be honest, there were many things missing on the original PC1 sets too. At one time there was a great post here with screenshots showing exactly what was missing from each PC1 set in an attempt to get Frontier to fill in what was missing.

Unfortunately to no avail.

You'd think there would be a master list of pieces that make up a set, and they'd just go through the list and check them off when designed, but I don't think they've done that for any of their Planet Games for some reason, so it's hit and miss depending on which person is working on a part of a theme at a certain time.

Uhhh....i just took a look at all the stuff, yes it is a bit hit or miss, but let's just say: especially the fairytale props, they really DO look great, yes some textures get a bit washed up, when you zoom in really close, but as soon as you are two ticks away, they look amazing, i kind of skipped the sci fi set and i feel compared to the western set, it looks really great.
