Forgotten animals in one DLC that came in another DLC

I wanted to create a new separate thread about this since we are talking a lot about what animals have lost their chance to be included in the game for not being included in the Arid Animal Pack.
  • Arctic pack: missed the Arctic fox, which arrived in the North America animal pack.
  • South America pack: missed the capybara, which arrived in the Wetlands animal pack
  • Australia pack: missed the emu, which arrived in the Grasslands animal pack
  • Aquatic pack: missed the California sea lion, which arrived in the North America animal pack
  • South East Asia pack: missed the lar gibbon, which arrived in the Tropical pack
  • Africa pack: missed an antelope, which arrived in Wetlands, Conservation, Grasslands and Arid pack. It also missed the dromedary and was a controversy for including dromedary signs. Even the comunnity managers had to clarify that they were not adding the dromedary in the pack, It arrived with the arid pack.
  • North America pack: missed the raccoon, which arrived in the Twilight pack
  • Europe pack: missed the red fox or red deer, which arrived in the Twilight pack and anniversary
  • Wetlands pack: missed the red river hog, which arrived in the Tropical pack
  • Conservation: missed the lar gibbon, which arrived in the Tropical pack
  • Twilight pack: missed the Tasmanian devil
  • Grassland pack: missed the secretary bird
  • Tropical pack: missed a South American monkey
  • Arid pack: missed a baboon and a tortoise
Of course all packs missed other animals, but I've written the omissions that generated more criticism at the launch of each pack. And before someone says it, yes, all packs missed flying birds. I think is good to say which animals we miss from the new packs, but we shouldn't be too dramatic and just wait to see if they come in a few months.

I think something went wrong with your analysis of the Conservation pack. I personally don't think any pressing species were missing here, although the Somali wild ass would be a good option.

If I remember correctly, people were also disappointed at not getting a platypus or Tasmanian devil as part of the Australian Pack. At least one of them has been added now.

I'd add the Asian small-clawed otter as another key missing species in the Southeast Asian Animal Pack. I believe that both ASCO and the lar gibbon were higher on the META wishlist than any of the species we got in that DLC.

I think I remember people said they preferred the gibbon over the siamang, but I ccould be wrong.

You are right about the Australia pack, I remember now. It was when I joined the forum, time flies!

This is a good post to put things into perspective. I'm still disapointed at the arid pack roster... but i admit that if it would've been called Saharan animal pack instead it will not be such big of a deal. Is the fact that is called a generic "Arid" that worries, but i guess that the fact they chose arid over desert as well is something to consider... the biome term is still in the air to be given to another pack.

That said another point of concern is that a lof of those packs that missed key species were in the beginning of the game's life. We are reaching a point that feels more like the end of it so the chances of getting animals that get neglected are slimmer now than before.

I want to think that the fact that they make such weird desitions when it comes to DLC rosters is because there is still much in store for the future... but who knows

Also i think the secretary bird was a big omission from the grasslands pack.

Maybe yiu should add for each pack what animals are still "missing" (like the wild boar for europe) and we could track progression.

I have thought of it, but I don't think it's a good idea. For some packs, the list of animals still missing would be quite long and we already have many threads talking about what is missing. I prefer to keep the focus of this particular thread on the animals that had a second chance and were added after being missed in one previous pack.
