Well, OBVIOUSLY he must have changed it to 'former" because in a couple days he'll be dropping gifts off across the world. I'm sure all will be back to normal once that's over with.

When did he join the team? I'm not familiar with his history there. Was it specifically to oversee the initial development of the game? Frontier Developments' business plans seem to run to a very strict annual program so maybe his contract was simply up.

I thought his newsletter recently had a somewhat unusual tone - but maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I don't see anywhere on his recent time-line that he changed his work status, so it could be old and we only just noticed? It's just Facebook anyway.

Given his senior position and public facing position if he did move on I believe it would have to be announced to the London Stock exchange (I could well be wrong about that), no such announcement have been made.

Most likely it an error on facebook, it prone to making assumptions based on other parts of your profile and you have go in and manually correct it.

could be instead of clicking "to present" he set a date and forgot about it. I've had that happen with a couple positions I was working where I put an expected date of from X to Y on the current job on my facebook profile, and then facebook goes and updates after that date passed and my mom called me the next morning asking me if I'd been fired or something.
