It's a very cool discovery, but the odd crater fits the profile of a volcano. Even if volcanism isn't in the game yet there's nothing stopping the system from putting a volcano on a planet that just sits there and doesn't erupt or flow. The object you saw even looks a fair bit like Olympos Mons on Mars, and we know that's a dead volcano.

The lights are weirder. They just steadily shine so it's not like there's a discernible signal from them. If I were NASA I would suspect they were light reflecting off of some of the silicates on the surface.

I notice the surface temperature was well over 6,000K, so that is one seriously hot world. If there are aliens there they're something completely new.

I was thinking light reflecting of the silicate geysers as well, but volcanism isn't supposed to be in the game yet, is it?
