Forum closing?

This decision makes absolutely no sense. Even if they were cancelling all further development on the game, why close and remove this forum. All their other games still have forums. They stopped development on PC1 years ago, yet it still has a forum. And of coarse, we get no explanation at all for this. So, people who come to the Frontier forums will see all the games they offer, except PC2. Are they trying to sweep it under the rug and treat it as if it doesn't even exist? This company seems to be doing everything it can to doom this game. You simply don't do this without an explanation to ease your player base that this is beneficial to the game. Instead, I get the foreboding feeling that this is not good news for the game. And if that's the feeling this company gives its players, than they have failed miserably.

Over the last few months, I have criticized this game, but also defended it, as it has so much potential to be a great game. I have held onto the belief that Frontier would turn things around and give us the Planet Coaster 2 game that we all hoped for. And they were on the right track, up until now. I do enjoy playing the game, and there are many really good things and improvements over the original. I have been looking forward to seeing what new content we will be getting and hoping that many of the bugs will be ironed out. But this move does not make me feel good about the game's future. And even if they tell us that all is well and give us a reasonable explanation for this, I will always have that doubt in the back of my mind that the future of this game is not going to be bright.

This is so disappointing to see. I have discord but I HATE being on it so I rarely ever actually use it. This forum is where I have actually found a wonderful strong community that has so many great ideas and such a tremendous passion for the genre and the Planet games. But looking at the past 9 months, FDev never really seemed to make an attempt to mingle with this community here, with little communication and responses so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they are choosing to end this platform. I will surely miss the discussions and all of the effort that so many have made to share ideas and information. As for what the future holds for this latest PC installment, I was having more hopes to have the experience that I've been wanting for so long now with new features, bug fixes, QoL improvements and overall content but this decision has again worked to tarnish my perspective on what will come to pass with this game and FDev. Call me spoiled but I dearly miss the old Frontier team with Bo and "Spoiler" Sam and the rest that were always so upbeat and enthusiastic to share their creation and actually seemed to want to be amongst the community and interact. I get that a lot has to remain hush hush about and promises shouldn't be made in case not being able to be delivered upon but they still knew how to tease and create so much excitement with PC and I always couldn't wait for the next surprise. Now, it just feels like.. apathy maybe? Seems more cold, like those that are communicating via text on platforms or camera on Unlocked are more so going through the motions as a job and don't have the pure joy the old team really expressed. Maybe I'm just not seeing something now but that's how it's all felt to me. Regardless, I will miss this platform and community on here and hope there will still be good things to come.

This is sad...
It's a slap in our faces!

Seems that they aren't intending to close the PC1 section. What does that mean?

Probably they totally gave up PC2 and want to erase all bad feedback that came up with it. Only Frontier is responsible for that desaster because of releasing a game in such a poor condition.
This is my first thought on Frontier's decision on shutting down the PC2-forums (only?)

I'm not sure if we'll see a new dlc or anything for PC2...
Frontier, if you're willing to go that way you won't deserve any more money. At least, not mine!

It's a bad day for PC2, a bad day for Frontier's reputation, and a bad day for our community!

Therefore let me say that it was an honour to be part of this community (since the good old RCT times). I hope that there will be a place where we'll meet again to discuss about a great theme park simulation game, in the future...

So farewell to all of you!
Uwe

Hey folks. just to clear things up, support isn't dropping for Planet Coaster 2 (That should hopefully be pretty obvious by now :p). For new Frontier games we are slowly moving discussion and feedback over to Discord as fewer and fewer gamers are choosing to use forums and opt instead for sites they already use. We won't be deleting the forum, simply closing new discussions (Old threads will still be available to find and view).

We've already made this move with the Jurassic World Evolution 3 Discussions forum (You will see the only post in there is a link to the Discord) but the Discord didn't fully exist until a little while after Planet Coaster 2 was announced which is why it still had a forum presence.

The Discord is great for hanging out with other PlanCo fans and you can share your screenshots and Workshop Creations even more easily in there than arguing with the forums occasional refusal to post an image :)

Sorry, some of us have no interest in Discord.

More and more Frontier reminds me of Atari...taking the cheap way out, cutting off communication, limiting feedback (the need to have X number of people sign onto a support ticket before they pay much attention is pure Atari-level...). Sad when they used to be so good, especially after the fiasco with Atari years ago.

Paul beat me to it, but we do this at my company too; closing in-house built programs and sites in favor of publicly available ones. It saves money and resources. I'd rather they spend that on the Workshop and the Game, rather than a clone of something that exists elsewhere. This makes sense to me.

It's just a migration to a new site. The old forums will become read only. There is an Unlocked on July 30, and PC2 will be discussed in it. There are rumors that there could be a reveal of a DLC or at least what they have planned for the near future. I always wanted a PC2 with working water slides and pools but not a rushed game with bugs and missing content. They did improve on that in a half a year but they still have a long way to go to make it better than the first game. Right now both games feel incomplete. 1 has stuff 2 doesn't have yet, and 2 has stuff 1 will never have.

You know, I've been using discord for years and it is 100% absolutely terrrible as a substitute for any real game forum. It also doesn't bode well that, looking at the discord provided, there isn't even a channel for help/feedback discussions available, let alone discord's form of a "forum" which would be the closest you could get to what we have here. And even if it did it wouldn't be easily found and locked behind a memebership while official forums can be easily found and read without registration. Kinda makes it seem like any discussion of bugs and what could be better is to be prevented in an open space that's easily accessible by all imo.

One would also think if you wanted to reach as many people as possible the logical thing to do would be use as many platforms as you can, not shut a whole group out by moving to a third party platform that was never meant to be used for something like this. Yeah, I don't like this one bit, but as many others have said already: it sadly fits the whole downwards trend that's been going on for a while now.

It's like they don't care about their players, this is a big middle finger to us. They force the Frontier workshop on us with no way to leave feedback on blueprints and parks, and now they are taking away their main forums? At least Paul said that PC2 development isn't done yet. That means that their will be further content and maybe bug fixes in the future. They just took a bit of a break for July with no new content released this month. Maybe new stuff in Sept. or Oct. I want to see an official horror/spooky pack.

I just had a look on discord.
The only usefull thing I can see is a suggestions section which is not totally chaos like the complete rest of discord...

The app is... meh and what the frog is the sense of that fixed "gift a nitro membership button"?

All already discussed topics since release will created again on discord because they aren't there and all questions will get asked again...

It's just stupid to think that it would be a good decision to close the forums.

Elite and the others don't seem to be closing. I feel you, Frontier, really can't be bothered with this game like you were with PC1 at times. We used to have devs chatting in the forum, you created a range of merch and did a weekly YouTube with Chantel, seems all half this time along with the most terrible launch that killed your product out the box?
