Forum Inclucivity

I have been part of this game since 2015, and have played on Xbox for the entire duration. This suggestion relates to the Frontier Forum rather than the game itself.

I have been in the position where I have been involved with the running of groups in both the Console and General areas of the forum. I have found that the groups who register themselves in the console-specific areas (Dangerous groups for Xbox and the PS4 equivalent) are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to group activities and/or expanding their reach across the player base. There are very few PC players who venture to the console groups pages, but there are also few console players who find themselves in the main body of the forum.

I can understand the reasons for keeping console groups separate from the rest of the groups, but the remainder of the console forums are a hindrance to integrating the player base across all of the platforms.

For group-led activities it is particularly difficult to involve all platforms. If an activity, such as exploration (example only) is proposed, a decision must be made as to where to advertise it. an XBOX group will most likely post in their own sub-forum, so there will be little PC involvement. If a post is made in the relevant sub-forum, in this example the exploration sub, there will be very little console involvement. Under current forum rules, a post in the console areas is not allowed if it is already in the main forum. So how do we get suitable involvement across all platforms?

The console specific sub-forums are simply a repeat of Dangerous Discussions, with the majority of the console players now fully caught up with their integration into the Elite Galaxy complete. New players gravitate to the Noob forums, but from there they are segregated into DD, XBox or PS4 chat, and rarely leave. The task-specific sub-forums are populated by a vast majority of PC players, with little interaction from the console players because they are trapped in their own console sub-forums.

This suggestion is how to prevent such segregation of the platforms and allow a little more cross-platform involvement.

  • 'Dangerous groups for XBOX and PS4' moved into 'Dangerous Groups' as a sub-heading. Alternatively perhaps 'Dangerous Groups' could have the subheadings of XB / PS / PC & Mac / Mixed, or the group tag must include <XB>, <PS>, <PC>, <MIX>
  • Dissolution of the XBOX & PS4 forums completely leaving only SPECIFIC console chat. Dangerous Discussions should be a general chat for everyone regardless of platform, but there is so much excellent discussion and / or duplication across the console specific forums, leaving only bitterness and salt in DD.

I hope that this makes a little sense..

This whole thread is based upon assumptions.

The assumption that each hardware user, regards the rest as some form of inferior species.

The assumption that said different hardware users; do not communicate with each other; for whatever reasons.

The assumption that all players are the same, with the same petty beliefs and ideals.

Yes some do stick to their own, but most are not that shallow.

I read about the same; up and coming events, on all the sub-forums and this is before we go to likes of Redit, etc..
