Forum Name, Ingame CMDR Name

I was given the nickname 'Mole' or 'Moley' nearly 40 years ago in the Army. Unlike civilian or school nicknames, Army or services names are taken as a matter of pride and acceptance. You're not really in until you've been given your first nickname...mine stuck.

It's how I introduce myself and I'm not known as anything else in RL except by my bank manager and my mother who still insist on using my given name....or ex forces associates and Regimental associations who pointlessly call me 'Sir' or 'Sergeant Major'; long after the rank and meaning have sunk into obscurity.

I added the HD (for internet use) after I dyed my beard bright red a few years ago...High Definition. All my avatars and characters in games are named as such with the exception of female characters....they assume my wife's given name through preference :) My Cmdr name for E-D is the same on Xbox/PC and on the forum.

So, Mole HD isn't just an internet alias, it's me [yesnod]

I don't either, mostly because I chose a somewhat silly commander name, when my usual handle was already taken. I didn't think I'd still be playing after a few months, so I didn't think the name would be as important as it turned out to be.

Yes I have the same name in both. I seem to remember when I first joined the forum during the Kickstarter that having the same name was a requirement? Either way, I would have used Flossy anyway and I am also Flossy in other games/forums, such as Aces High, as well as There (Lifetime account) and WW2OL when I played it.

As a Kickstarter backer, I was able to reserve my in-game name and there is also an NPC with my real name of Helen Lister. I believe other combinations containing Helen or Lister may also appear as NPC names.

I have bought 2 more accounts since the launch and called the second one a very imaginative Flossy2! :D For the third account I suppose I could have just gone with Flossy3, but instead chose the name of my first World of Warcraft character which was the result of a name generator, and which I thought suited the game the best - Adwywen. :)

I don't, I wanted to but made a mistake when starting out on ED a couple of years ago. I am a big fan of the Expanse series books and now tv series and thought I was naming my ship and not myself when filling out the starting details. Thought I would come up with a pun on the Rocinante so my name ingame since then has been Cmdr Rockin' the Ante.
