Forum rank higher than ingame rank?

Hey Guys,

Sometimes I see people with Ranks of Deadly and Elite rank in the forum

Then I thought, does that dude's forum rank exceed his ingame combat rank, meaning he potentially spends more time on the forum than ingame :)

(not saying that a bad thing!, Maybe you're a trader/explorer, or have more time to peruse and post in the forum at work than you do to play in the evening, maybe you are a gifted linguist that gets many +reps... I just found it interesting how peoples forum ranks may differ from their combat rank)

In game: Dangerous

No, my in-game rank is higher than my forums rank.

Or maybe that the forums member is just very effective in posting. Posting can be done very quickly and sometimes while playing the game - those 150,000 ls stations need food too and that 600,000 ls star wants to get scanned.

By the way, how is the forums rank calculated? Number of posts or number of "likes"?

I think its based on the +reps you get,

also I tried to state that that its not negative to have a higher Forum rank, there are many factors that could lead to that. (amended OP to state that)

Edit: Also I believe the forums were around before the game was, so that is also a factor

I mean this as a light hearted thread to have some fun with

LOL - unlike the normal forum every different type of opinion and attitude is available, not just the limited range of frustration, anger, dissapointment and rage that's typically in stock at most of the threads out here. :p

Edward Lewis, If you're reading this.

Wouldn't it be fun to give Members of the forum that have reached "Elite Forum Status" an ingame community decal, like a "pillar of the community" decal or something? :p

The rank is number of posts. Elite is around 6,000 posts.

The green pips represent number of Reps. 100 per pip for the first 5 and the rest are 200's I think.

(And if you hover your mouse over the green pips you get a little message about the user.)

In-Game: Expert

But only recently started combat, done trading and mission running for the majority of my ED life, with actually quite a bit of exploring (like 3000 level 3 scans or somat in my stats right hand panel watsit)
